    Job Description

    The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Field Eligibility Determinations is seeking a Clerk Specialist for the Rent Reimbursement program to join our team!

     

    This is a full-time opportunity, Monday – Friday with hours being 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with overtime as needed. This position is a full-time in-office position. The starting salary is $17.61/hr. for individuals new to State of Iowa employment. New employees are eligible for a raise after completing their first 6 months.

     

    The Clerk Specialist is responsible for providing customer service to clients that walk into the office as well as providing quality assurance and technical support to other workers in the rent reimbursement unit. This includes ensuring mail and documents that are sent from remote workers to unit printers are handled appropriately and communicating with remote workers to trouble shoot and ensure the correct documents were printed. The position will assist with the assignment of program applications. They will be responsible for reporting data from logs and quality assurance of documents.

     

    The Clerk Specialist is also responsible for the Rent Reimbursement email inbox(s). This entails managing all emails that come into the assigned email box; acting on non-eligibility changes; answering general policy questions; troubleshooting inquiries; responding to inquiries; distributing misdirected emails to other HHS Units and other State Agencies; uploading emails daily into IM and Unit Electronic processing lists. The Clerk Specialist will also track and log various monthly reports regarding customer contacts.

     

    In conjunction with unit leadership/supervisors, the Clerk Specialist will coordinate office operations, completing payroll reviewer responsibilities for assigned unit(s), and ordering/maintain supply and forms inventory. All other administrative duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

     

    Experience equal to three years of full-time clerical or closely related work;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting graduation from high school, G.E.D. equivalency or satisfactory completion of a recognized correspondence or formal job-related training course at the high school or equivalent level such as that offered by WIN, OEO, CEP, CIVEC or similar programs, for one year only of the required experience;

    OR

    an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting nine months or thirty semester hours coursework in an accredited business school, college or university for each year of the required experience;

    OR

    certification from the State of Iowa Administrative Assistant Certificate Program will substitute for six months of the required experience;

    OR

    employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of eighteen months of full time experience as a resident treatment worker or Clerk–Advanced.
