Design Production Technician Closets by Design is a nationally recognized leader in home organizing systems. We design, manufacture, and install a complete line of custom closets, home office furniture, media systems, wall-beds, garage cabinetry and more. We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Design Production Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming approved customer designs into production-ready job packages, ensuring that each order meets our quality standards and is ready for manufacturing and installation. The ideal candidate thrives on solving problems, takes pride in producing accurate and consistent work, and communicates effectively across teams. While CAD-based software is used daily, prior CAD experience is not required—we will train the right candidate with the right mindset and work ethic. Job Responsibilities: * Review approved sales designs for accuracy, feasibility, and alignment with company manufacturing and installation standards * Resolve design questions by collaborating with sales, engineering, and installation teams * Translate final designs into cutlists and work packages using Cabinet Vision (training provided) * Ensure that all required materials, parts, and machining instructions are accounted for * Submit completed cutlists and packages in a timely manner to meet production deadlines * Maintain a consistent focus on quality, accuracy, and efficiency * Support pricing, production, and installation departments with any necessary clarifications or adjustments What We’re Looking For: * Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills * Initiative to manage tasks independently while being a dependable team player * Effective communication and willingness to collaborate across departments * A positive attitude and a continuous improvement mindset * Comfort working on a computer; technical aptitude to learn industry-specific software Essential Job Functions: * Quality – Develop and implement, with every job or project, a personal quality process that will ensure that all items required by the sales package design have been included in the cutlist. Specifically, all components purchased by the customer are included and all required machining, special orders, etc. are accurately specified. * Productivity – The Cutlist Job Processor is expected to continually seek methods for improving his/her daily output. * Continuous Improvement – The Cutlist Job Processor is expected to have a positive and proactive attitude towards meeting and surpassing the customers’ expectations. The Cutlist Department’s customers are: The Manufacturing Department, the Installation Department, and the End-User Customer. Each Cutlist Job Processor is to continuously seek out improved methods for reducing the time to complete jobs, ensuring the highest quality with each job, and that all customer expectations have been met or surpassed. Minimum Preferred Requirements: * High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or technical training preferred * Prior experience with CAD software or similar technical applications is a plus * Previous work in manufacturing, construction, or design-related fields preferred but not required Why Join Us?
