Rye Country Day School is seeking a maintenance worker to begin immediately. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, Prek-12, college preparatory school in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Specific responsibilities of the position include:

+ HVAC training and experience

+ Performs maintenance service or repairs in one or more skill areas, including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installations, or vehicle servicing

+ Performs tasks such as but not limited to daily maintenance of the all facilities including but limited to: changing light bulbs, installing paper dispenser units, changing filters, changing locks on doors, minor decorative maintenance and other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman

+ Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions with management oversight

+ Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures

+ Snow removal and other grounds keeping activities

+ Assist with special events

+ Drive a cart or other vehicle

+ Sterilization solutions and chemicals are required to be used for basic cleaning

+ Process work orders and complete repairs as needed

+ Perform preventative maintenance on assets.

+ Required to manage inventory of equipment, parts and supplies

+ Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned; willingness to be open to learning and growing

+ Ability to work well alone and within a team

+ Ability to work a flexible schedule

+ Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays

Desired Qualifications

+ HVAC and/or Plumbing experience a plus

+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

+ 5 or more years of related experience

+ Maturity of judgment and behavior

+ Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance

+ Ability to maintain a positive attitude

+ Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect

+ Must have basic phone and computer skills (email, texting, etc.)

+ Attention to detail

+ Ability to work well under pressure

+ Knowledge of and proficiency in all OSHA and local requirements related to all assigned work is a plus

+ Holds appropriate license/certification for the specific work to be done in the city and state in which the work will be done

+ A valid driver’s license is required

Salary range $28/hour - $30/hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
