Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.
Power BI Reporting & Exploration team's mission is to empower everyone to better understand their data and effectively communicate insights. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on the backend systems that power our global-scale services that execute more than 1 billion of queries every day to reliably support visualization, reporting, metrics, copilot and more.

Responsibilities
+ Design, develop, and deliver innovative and impactful features within Power BI
+ Work on coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.
+ Collaborate with other team members to ensure that our software meets the needs of our customers.
+ Continuously improve your skills and knowledge to stay up to date with the latest technologies and best practices.
+ Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ Experience debuging, reading code and work on a large and increasing codebase.
+ Experience mentoring other developers, working partners and being a team player.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
+ This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ Experience with building, deploying, and operating applications and services on cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)
+ Experience with using big data, streaming, and analytics (e.g., Spark, SQL, Power BI)
+ Experience with database/compiler internals and containerization technologies (e.g., B+ trees, query optimization, SQL query compiler, Kubernetes, Docker)
+ Experience with using data visualization technologies (e.g., D3, Highcharts)
+ Startup mentality to move and iterate rapidly, work across disciplines, and focus on customers
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
