About the Role:

We’re looking for a seasoned technologist to join our Data Streaming Platform (DSP) team, a specialized group within Confluent that focuses on the technical depth of connecting, processing, and governing real-time data streams using core technologies like Apache Kafka and Apache Flink, along with other distributed systems. As a technical advisor to the sales team, you will collaborate closely with product management and engineering, acting as a product advocate to prospects and customers. This role requires expertise in Apache Kafka, distributed systems, and pre-sales engineering. Ideal candidates may have experience as Technical Account Managers, Sales Engineers, or Professional Services consultants.

What You Will Do:

+ Engage with Customers: Understand clients' technical challenges and help them design and implement comprehensive Data Streaming Platform solutions. This includes leveraging Confluent's capabilities for connecting diverse data sources with Connectors, processing data in real-time using Flink, and implementing governance solutions to ensure data quality and compliance.

+ Provide Deep Technical Expertise: Guide customers in deploying and optimizing Confluent's DSP, with a focus on connecting to and integrating with critical data sources, including relational databases for efficient change data capture.

+ Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with sales, product management, and engineering to refine and improve Confluent’s product messaging based on customer feedback.

+ Educate and Advocate: Lead technical workshops, webinars, and customer enablement sessions on Kafka, Confluent Data Streaming Products, and data integration patterns.

+ Shape Technical Strategy: Influence product development and customer solutions by identifying gaps, challenges, and opportunities in event-driven architectures.

+ Enable Data Product Creation: Assist customers in transforming raw data streams into well-governed, discoverable, and reusable data products on the DSP, empowering their internal teams to access and utilize trusted real-time data.

What You Will Bring:

+ Strong expertise in Apache Kafka and Confluent’s Data Streaming Platform, with hands-on experience across its core pillars: Connectors for data integration, Stream Processing (Flink, Kafka Streams, ksqlDB) for real-time transformation, and Stream Governance for data quality and management.

+ Hands-on knowledge and practical experience with Kafka Connect for building robust and scalable data integration pipelines across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, with experience integrating with various data sources, including relational databases.

+ Proficiency in Confluent's Stream Processing technologies, including Kafka Streams, KSQLDB, and Flink, to design and implement real-time data transformation and processing logic within the DSP.

+ Strong understanding and practical experience with streaming data governance and security best practices, including schema management, data quality, and access control within a DSP context.

+ Ability to architect enterprise-scale, real-time data pipelines in hybrid and multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).

+ Proficiency in Java or Python and experience building event-driven, ETL, or CDC-based applications.

+ 7+ years of experience as a Solutions Engineer, Technical Account Manager, or similar technical role.

+ Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, sales, and marketing.

What Gives You an Edge:

+ Practical experience with building and managing diverse connector integrations for various data sources and sinks.

+ Experience working with data lakes open table formats like Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake.

+ Deep knowledge of Oracle databases, including experience with Oracle GoldenGate, XStream API, and Oracle Change Data Capture (CDC).

+ Experience with cloud networking and security concepts related to data streaming platforms

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $136,700 - $160,650, a competitive equity package and is also eligible for additional commission and/or bonus pay.
