This position will serve as the Facilities Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County and under the general supervision of the Association Camp Team Leader and Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities Coordinator has the primary responsibility for cleaning and maintaining the Association’s grounds and physical facilities at the DPF 4-H Camp, and will provide support to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, participants, and the public. It is the role of this position to follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and maintenance schedules for the grounds and physical facilities at the DPF 4-H Camp including, but not limited to: office areas, kitchen, dining hall, bunk houses, bath houses, educational classrooms, farm, storage areas, entrances, etc. The Facilities Coordinator is also responsible for mowing; snow removal; repairs; minor carpentry, plumbing, animal care, vegetable production and construction projects; maintenance of equipment; set-up and breakdown for meetings and/or events; and coordinating facility needs with the Camp Team Leader, Maintenance Supervisor, and/or designated staff. Will assist the Association in ensuring OSHA/PESHA safety regulations are followed. The Facilities Coordinator is also responsible for assisting in maintaining facilities and the water system while camp is open in order to meet New York State Department of Health (DOH) requirements. This position will also provide back-up routine custodial duties (i.e. clean, dust, polish, vacuum, mop, sweep, etc.) and maintenance work at the local Association office, as needed. This position will represent Cornell Cooperative Extension and the DPF 4-H Camp to the general public, community leaders and government officials in a professional manner. Will appreciate and embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers, and the public.
Required Qualifications:
+ Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Education (High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year transferrable program/functional experience).
+ Experience relevant to the role of the position.
+ Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
+ Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
+ Ability to operate facility equipment, such as a lawn mower, snow blower, etc.
+ Ability to read and understand directions as printed on cleaning compounds and chemicals.
+ Ability to climb ladders and perform custodial/facilities work from heights above floor levels.
+ Ability to do heavy lifting, shovel snow, and carry supplies and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Technical trade school or specialized training beyond High School Diploma or GED and four plus (4+) years’ experience.
+ Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and repair methods, materials, and techniques.
+ Knowledge of care of farm animals and horticulture.
+ Knowledge of building mechanicals and plumbing operations.
+ Demonstrated ability to provide cleaning, maintenance, and repair work.
+ Demonstrated ability to identify and address safety concerns in the work place.
+ Demonstrated ability to work independently to initiate, organize, and implement established goals.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction and Management - 15%
+ Assist in preparing seasonal work plans.
+ Assist with developing building and equipment maintenance schedules.
+ Assist with creation of emergency preparedness plans.
+ Assist with developing written plans and records for facility, equipment, and grounds including, but not limited to: maintenance records, fire extinguisher and heating system, annual maintenance, winterization of buildings and equipment.
+ Assist with managing building equipment and maintenance schedules.
+ Assist with maintenance of emergency preparedness plans.
+ Assist with aligning resources to identify contractors and outside vendors for identified needs.
+ Assist to ensure a healthy and safe site is maintained for programs by ensuring established policies and procedures are followed.
Coordination/Operation - 80%
+ Perform general maintenance and custodial duties as directed. Duties include, but are not limited to: basic repairs and carpentry, tending to grounds, farm production and animals, painting, cleaning, sealing, etc.
+ Assist in updating and maintaining the health and safety plan as it pertains to facility operations.
+ Conduct annual pre-camp health and safety inspection with Camp Team Leader to assess maintenance needs prior to camping season.
+ Assist with maintaining written plans and records for facility, equipment, and grounds including, but not limited to: maintenance records, fire extinguisher and heating system, annual maintenance, winterization of buildings and equipment.
+ Facilitate routine ordering of cleaning supplies, building materials, maintenance items, etc. to ensure adequate supplies and materials are available to conduct grounds keeping and custodial tasks.
+ In collaboration with Maintenance Supervisor, keep an inventory of all supplies and equipment.
+ Comply with established health and safety regulations and guidelines including OSHA/PESHA regulations.
+ Assist with the maintenance of facilities and water system to comply with NYS DOH requirements.
+ Safely operate all vehicles and other job related equipment.
+ Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
+ Record use and storage of all chemicals and cleaners utilized in MSDS record book as required.
+ In collaboration with Maintenance Supervisor, maintain all equipment operating manuals and maintenance records.
+ In collaboration with Camp Team Leader, schedule contractors, volunteers, or other resources to address facility, maintenance, and storage needs.
+ Clean and maintain all grounds and facility areas (i.e. office areas, kitchen and dining hall, bunk houses, bath houses, educational classrooms, storage areas, entrances, etc.) removing all garbage, trash, and recyclables; cleaning and maintaining appliances and equipment such as refrigerators, stoves, hot water heaters, furnaces, lawn mowers, tractors, floor scrubbers, etc.
+ Set-up and tear down for meetings and/or events.
+ Assist with arranging for and performing deliveries and errands.
+ Remove snow and ice from walks, roofs, driveways, and parking lot as needed.
+ Maintain lawn and landscaping as needed.
+ Collaborate with designated staff to ensure buildings and grounds are prepared for educational programming.
+ Consult rental and usage calendar daily for information regarding buildings and grounds use.
+ Make arrangements for buildings to be opened and closed per rental/storage needs and schedule.
+ Serve as the contact for buildings and grounds issues and emergencies outside typical office hours.
+ Check facilities after use by renters and report damage to the Camp Team Leader.
+ Replenish soap, towels, and paper in appropriate dispensers.
+ Maintain security of buildings and grounds and custodial equipment.
+ Assist with animal care including but not limited to feeding, cleaning stalls, collecting eggs, etc.
+ Assist with vegetable production including but not limited to planting, weeding, harvesting, etc.
+ Provide back-up routine custodial duties (i.e. clean, dust, polish, vacuum, mop, sweep, etc.) and maintenance work at the local Association office, as needed.
+ This position may require the transport program materials, resources and/or supplies in performing position responsibilities.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
+ In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.

+ Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
+ Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
POSITION DETAILS:
This position is a full-time, non-exempt position, 40 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $20.00 to $22.00 commensurate with experience. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance and NYS retirement.
