Job Description:
At Veracio, we're unlocking the value and utility of scarce resources, and it all starts with the orebody. Whether that's unlocking hard-to-find minerals that are critical for a sustainable future. Or liberating time through the automation workflows from exploration through to production geoscience. Or the workforce, with cloud connected systems keeping the world's brightest minds at your fingertips. It's through a fusion of science and technology that we're helping miners leverage their orebody knowledge to realize more opportunities while mitigating the social and environmental impact of their decisions.
We are looking for a senior spectral geologist to work with our team on the implementation of our field-deployable hyperspectral (HS) scanning system (part of the TruScan logging platform). This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the development and application of cutting-edge mining technology.
The role of senior HS geoscientist will work alongside the global geoscience team and liaise with our principal spectral geologist to support day-to-day HS data processing. The role requires in-depth knowledge of hyperspectral mineralogy applied to mineral exploration and/or mining to develop workflows that maximize accuracy and efficiency.
Specific responsibilities include:
+ Use and deployment of Veracio hyperspectral (HS) tools to end user satisfaction.
+ Build custom spectral libraries and workflows for each project.
+ Review and QA/QC HS data generated on a regular basis.
+ Data processing, evaluation, and reporting of HS mineralogical and geochemical results on a regular (daily) basis.
+ Engage with clients to develop mineralogical workflows and reporting requirements on a project-by-project basis. Continual client management to ensure project goals are met.
+ Manage working relationships with drill crews, geologists, mine supervisors, Veracio team and management.
+ Trouble shooting technical issues tied to hyperspectral (HS) analytical equipment.
+ Provide feedback on technology innovation and documentation.
+ Train, engage with, and supervise new HS team members.
+ This role may require travel (~1/3 total time) depending on operational requirements. Schedule flexibility is required to align with time zones of distributed remote teams and consultants.
Qualifications required:
+ Background in HS data collection and processing (Minimum 5 years' experience in HS mineral interpretation - VNIR and SWIR).
+ Expert user of spectral mineral software such as TSG, ENVI, Viewspec, etc.
+ Master's degree in Geology, and/or Geochemistry.
+ Understanding of hard rock geology/alteration and ore deposit knowledge.
+ Mineral exploration and/or mine site related field experience.
+ Ability to work with and engage a diverse group of stakeholders.
+ Valid passport and ability to travel.
Other desirable experience:
+ XRF technology experience tied to hard rock geochemistry
+ Understanding of geochemical analysis and/or exploration geochemistry and/or ore deposit modelling and/or geometallurgy
+ Basic SQL, R Studio and Python knowledge
+ Ability to adapt to new IT systems
+ Geological Lab experience
