    Purpose:

    Are you a skilled financial or business intelligence analyst looking to not only make a direct impact on two growing hospitals but also support the financial and strategic decision making of the entire organization? If so, this Financial Analyst, Senior position in UPMC Corporate Finance is for you!

     

    In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with UPMC Passavant and UPMC St. Margaret leadership on a day-to-day basis, driving the financial success of every department within the two hospitals. In addition, the position will partner with Health Catalyst, a leading provider of data and analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations, and various colleagues and leaders across the UPMC enterprise to drive forward our organization’s cost accounting and decision support reporting, technology, and strategy.

    This position will primarily be based out of Forbes Tower in Pittsburgh, PA and offers work from home with a flexible hybrid remote/in office schedule (broken down below)

     

    + Primary Office (up to 6 days per month): Forbes Tower - 3600 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213

    + Offsite Location (up to 3 days per month): UPMC St. Margaret - 815 Freeport Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15215

    + Offsite Location (up to 3 days per month): UPMC Passavant McCandless - 9100 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237

    + Work from home on all other days, and additional flexibility offered for in office days as needed.

    Responsibilities:

    + Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

    + Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.

    + Perform complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported.

    + Act as a mentor for Financial Analysts or administrative staff.

    + Analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability.

    + Interpret financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.

    + Plan and conduct complex studies to determine cost of business activities. Recommend budget adjustments, and other cost improvement measures.

    + Transform reporting, tools, and analyses to enhance and expand financial support provided to healthcare leaders.

    + Collaborate with internal and external partners on activity-based costing and decision support reporting and strategy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting monthly cost accounting system processing, suggesting and supporting implementation of costing methodology improvements and data validation, onboarding facilities onto costing system and training end users, creating and transforming reporting, and managing and communicating systemwide cost savings initiatives.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    + Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Computer Science, Accounting, or related business field required.

    + Minimum of three years of experience in analysis (financial, business, healthcare, or a related area), business intelligence, budgeting and financial reporting, or a related role.

    + OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience

    + Proficient in Microsoft 365 products, including Excel and Power BI. Or other equivalent spreadsheet and business intelligence tools.

    + Excellent in problem solving, time management, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills (both oral and written).

    + Knowledge of PeopleSoft General Ledger, electronic medical record data, activity-based costing, and/or SQL coding or other similar technological background a plus.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    CPA/MBA a plus.
