Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
+ Knowledge of local, state and federal regulations, standards and policies related to emergency management and continuity of operations.
+ Knowledge of plan review, Incident Command System, Continuity of Operations Plans, Emergency Operation Center operations.
+ Knowledge of how to plan and conduct drills/exercises.
+ Skill in oral and written communication, and skill or experience utilizing mediation practices to reach consensus.
+ Skill in building relationships with campus and community partners.
+ Skill at intermediate level in Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals with diverse backgrounds and maintain good working relationships across the University.
+ Ability to complete tasks and projects in a timely manner.
+ Ability to draft event and incident action plans.
+ Ability to work well with other organizations.
+ Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
+ A bachelor’s degree in emergency management, emergency response, public safety, public health, criminal justice, public administration, or closely related field.
+ One year of experience in emergency management, emergency response, public safety, public health, criminal justice, or public administration.
Preferred Qualifications
+ A master’s degree in emergency management, emergency response, public safety, public health, criminal justice, public administration, or a closely related field.
+ No experience required with master’s degree.
+ Associate Emergency Manager ( AEM ) or Certified Emergency Manager ( CEM ) issued by the International Association of Emergency Managers ( IAEM ) and/or a state association EM certification.
Job Description
Responsible for assisting in the management of environmental, health and safety programs. Assist in developing a culture of preparedness and resiliency within the university through prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Job Duties
+ Assists in development, implementation, and assessing comprehensive University-wide policies, procedures, and practices relating to emergency management including assisting with the updating of Emergency Operations Plan and Essential Support Functions / Annexes as needed.
+ Assists in the coordination, facilitation, and conducting emergency operation activities to protect life and property for planned events and unplanned incidents.
+ Assists in development, implementation, and operation of emergency management programs for the University community including education, exercises, and outreach about emergency management-related programs.
+ Assists in management of the University’s Building Emergency Coordinator ( BEC ) program including training and information sharing with approximately 300 BEC personnel.
+ Assists in managing the Continuity of Operations Plan program including review of approximately 200 individual plans and providing feedback on edits.
+ Reviews event requests and assist with special event planning.
+ Assists in facilitating during activations of the University’s Emergency Operations Center and participate in post-event evaluation/after-action reviews including writing reports.
+ Assists in monitoring institutional compliance efforts regarding local, state, and federal emergency management standards, requirements, and industry best practices.
+ Maintains data and websites related to emergency management.
+ Assists other EHSREM personnel as needed.
+ Serves as a member of the EHSREM Response Team to respond and investigate reported incidents on campus involving hazardous chemicals, indoor air quality issues, community concerns and emergency situations.
+ Carries after hours response phone for a week every other month.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
