The Mahurin Honors College is pleased to announce we are accepting applications for the position of Academic Advisor. The following duties are customary for this position, but duties may be added, deleted, and assigned at the discretion of the supervisor and institutional needs.
+ Serve as advisor for Mahurin Honors College scholars including meeting face to face or by zoom with approximately 500 students per semester
+ Maintain academic records, audit degree programs for graduating seniors
+ Assist with graduation ceremonies twice per year
+ Develop and lead programming focused on advising
+ Provide proactive advising, interventions, and referrals as necessary
+ Assist with the Honors Augmentation Contract (HAC), various academic
+ Oversee Honors Education Abroad credit, and good standing/warning semester process, with appropriate follow up
+ Conduct intrusive college-wide advising and implements proactive retention activities designed to maximize scholar success with the Honors curriculum; Collaborates on advising activities with ACDC (Academic & Career Development Center), at Topper Orientation Programs (TOP) helping with pre-registration of incoming Honors freshmen and works with departmental, college, and university advisors to address Honors advising issues
+ Advise the MHC Peer Mentors and other student organizations
+ Collaborate with Office of Scholar Development, Office of Undergraduate Research, and Study Abroad Global Learning to educate scholars on opportunities and make appropriate referrals
+ Evaluate academic plans for "Honors in the Major" applicants and makes recommendations to the College admissions committee
+ Develop appropriate assessment tools related to retention metrics in areas of responsibilities
+ Support student programming and events as needed.
+ Other duties assigned by supervisory personnel.

+ Familiarity with advising practices and working with gifted and high achieving students
+ Willingness to work periodic evenings and weekends
Job Requirements:
+ Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
+ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $38,000 - $42,000
