    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

    Adjunct Faculty are instructional personnel whose services are contracted on a semester/term by semester/term basis. The workload is limited to two course sections per semester/term, unless three course sections are required to meet the needs of the students and/or College.

     

    Adjunct Faculty will be paid $681 per credit hour for this position. Sr. Adjunct Faculty will be paid $728 per credit hour. Health Sciences Adjunct Faculty will be paid $854 per credit hour.

    OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY

    The most important overall responsibility of all RCBC employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students, members of the college community and the public.

    INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

    Accepts responsibility for the timely preparation of student outcomes assessment efforts of the faculty in planning, collecting data, and reporting dates as they relate to course outcomes, program outcomes, general education outcomes, and developmental program outcomes. Actively participates in setting annual division goals and objectives, completing OIR reporting forms, collecting data, analyzing data, and preparing a report using guidelines established by OIR.

     

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Teach didactic and lab courses in paramedic science

    + Supervise and evaluate student progress in learning experiences in accordance with established departmental policies.

    + Communicate regularly with lead faculty in order to facilitate student success.

    + Work to ensure a positive and favorable learning environment.

    + Provide evaluation for students.

    + Attend orientation and meetings as needed.

    + Enter student grades into web advisor by end of semester.

    + Perform evaluations of students face to face midterm and end of semester.

    + Perform counseling of students when needed as per RCBC policies.

    + Submits progress reports on students for counseling and record keeping purposes and discusses with counselors and other appropriate personnel any problems of students which may require special attention.

    + Advises students and/or performs special assigned duties related to registration. Serves as faculty advisor to student organizations (voluntary) and provides for interaction with students outside the classroom environment.

    + Engages in assessment of learning outcomes and demonstrates the use of the results of these assessments in course planning.

    + Specifies competency based student outcomes as the objectives of all courses.

    + Attends all meetings for program.

    + Engages in continual professional development.

    + Attends graduation.

    + Adheres to professional standards.

As teaching needs arise, these applications will be reviewed for possible interviews*** The number of adjunct instructors hired varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department.     Minimum Qualifications

    + Current certification as a NJ Paramedic or MICN with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in an EMS service providing ALS care.

    + ACLS Instructor

    + PALS Instructor

    + ITLS Instructor

    + NAEMSE Instructor Course Level 1

    + Excellent interpersonal communication skills, problem solving skills, and leadership capabilities

    Desired Education

    Associate degree in paramedic science, bachelor's degree in progress in any area.

     

    Additional Information

     

    Technology Tools, Blackboard LMS, and Webex Videoconferencing

     

    In order to enable Adjunct Faculty to be effective and to meet the requirements associated with relevant teaching conditions , RCBC has outlined 1) appropriate Technology Tools, 2) a minimum level of proficiency with the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) and remote delivery, and 3) Webex Videoconferencing resources.

     

    1) Technology Tools

     

    Adjunct Faculty should have access to a computer less than 6 years old and equipped with a webcam and microphone, as well as reliable high-speed internet service.

     

    2) Blackboard LMS

     

    Adjunct Faculty must participate in Blackboard training with a verified level of proficiency in the following two self-paced courses A) ‘Getting Started with Blackboard Learn’ and B) ‘Learn Teaching Essentials for Original’.

     

    3) Webex Videoconferencing

     

    Webex is RCBC’s accepted videoconferencing platform and allows for real-time instructor-student interactions and breakout sessions, for example. RCBC has created two interactive workshops, a maximum of one-and-a-half hours long, to address topics of interest to both beginner and advanced users. Recorded sessions will be continuously available for faculty viewing.
