The **Director for Data and Reporting (Director)** strategically supports UW Medicine Advancement (UWMA) in the ramp-up to and during the upcoming campaign. The Director will be responsible for overseeing a two-person data, visualization, and reporting team that serves the entirety of UWMA’s workforce. This role will have direct oversight over grateful patient fundraising data resources and infrastructure. The Director will work with the Assistant Vice President for Pipeline Strategy and Campaign Analytics (AVP) on large-scale projects and data transformations to support UWMA fundraising.
The Director will lead the Data, Visualization, and Reporting team, consisting of the Associate Director for Reporting and Data Management and the Associate Director for Major Gift Data Strategy and Reporting, in supporting reporting, visualization, and data request needs for an 86-person office. The Director will have broad oversight of patient data compliance and infrastructure management, including the implementation of a HIPAA-compliant patient CRM and ongoing data compliance. The Director will support collaborative fundraising agreement data governance and work with other key campus partners in advocating for UW Medicine technology requests.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Reporting and Team Management (20%)
+ Develop and maintain a robust reporting platform within UWMA to augment a broader reporting apparatus, supporting UW Medicine campaign requirements and internal strategy.
+ Perform data analysis to support business process exploration and requirements validation.
+ Develop and monitor systems for reporting bugs to developers and ensure they are prioritized and addressed.
+ Direct the work of the two direct reports to this position, providing clear priority setting, developing annual plans, and facilitating process documentation.
+ Identify areas of growth and mentorship possibilities for direct reports, focusing on skill and career development.
+ Meet with UWMA stakeholders regularly to provide updates on projects and identify and assess emerging unit technology needs.Technology Development, Deployment, and Support (20%)
+ Work with key stakeholders for grateful patient fundraising and technology, including continued refinement and development of the grateful patient database.
+ Oversee large-scale technology implementation, such as a future grateful patient CRM, in partnership with key partners and stakeholders.
+ Develop and maintain technology solutions using tools such as SharePoint, Power Automate, and other Microsoft 365 applications.Data and Technology Management (20%)
+ Maintain team technical standards for data and reporting, including developing a consistent ticketing system, standard outputs, and extensive quality assurance.
+ Work within data visualization tools such as Power BI and Tableau, identifying solutions that best fit UW Medicine and meet compliance standards.
+ Maintain collaborative ties with colleagues in University Advancement Information Management and UW Medicine IT.Grateful Patient Data Compliance (15%)
+ Liaise with UW Medicine IT and other stakeholder partners in the ongoing management and compliance of grateful patient resources, including extracts, web apps, and annual updates to the grateful patient policy.
+ Oversee all HIPAA compliance requirements for UW Medicine Advancement, including annual training requirements for staff and completion of periodic reviews.
+ Provide strategic oversight for consistently defining and documenting all UWMA systems, data compliance, and technology needs.Campaign Reporting and Data Governance (15%)
+ Work with the UW Medicine Advancement Campaign team to identify reporting and data management needs.
+ Collaborate with the AVP to define core data governance guidelines, in concert with University Advancement, around campaign metrics and reporting.
+ Allocate team time to manage and support campaign-related tools.
+ Serve in a leadership role in future collaborative fundraising partnership data integrations.Other Duties as Assigned (10%) **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor’s degree in information science, communication, or business management-related field.
+ Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare-related data and reporting or related field, with at least four of those years managing, supervising, or leading technical staff. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**

+ Experience with report design visualization tools.
+ Familiarity with business intelligence and analytics software, preferably Power BI, Tableau Server, and R.
+ Proficiency in database reporting tools, including SQL, SQL Server, stored procedures, scripting, and cloud computing.
+ Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ At least two years of experience working in an information officer capacity at an academic or non-profit fundraising institution.
+ Knowledge of alumni relations/development/advancement principles.
+ Familiarity with C# or other object-oriented programming languages.
+ Familiarity with project management software.
