    The Pharmacy is staffed by registered pharmacists, certified pharmacy technicians, support staff, and four clinical pharmacists/full-time faculty members who are affiliated with the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The Pharmacy staff provides all sterile intravenous product preparation and oral medications, drug information, and reviews all medication orders for appropriateness. The Pharmacy is completely computerized and has a state-of-the-art clean room to prepare sterilized medications.

     

    One of the department’s objectives is to educate the community and the hospital staff about pharmaceuticals. Through its affiliation with the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, the Department of Pharmacy Services serves as primary teaching site for pharmacy students and pharmacy residents.

    Scheduling Requirements:

    + Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

    + Rotate to alternate shifts as needed.

    + On call requirement

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Orchestrating and managing clinical policy and procedure development, especially for general practice and broad-reaching policies such as IV Med Admin or Therapeutic Sub as well as areas without a dedicated specialist within the department (e.g., pediatrics, radiology).

    + Strategically performing Medication Use Evaluations, coordinate assessment of ADRs and Med Errors with medication safety specialist, provide pharmacy representation during RCAs (or coordinate with appropriate specialist), and engage in other performance improvement, and drug safety processes that support system development and best pharmacy practices.

    + Maintaining ASHP Accreditation standards for all residency programs. Serves as a director for the Pharmacy Residency Programs (PGY1 & PGY2 Internal Medicine).

    + Acting as the primary pharmacist for clinical content at Princeton Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee meetings, coordinating with other clinical pharmacists on topics within their practice areas.

    + Prepare and distribute communication to the Department, Nursing, and Providers as necessary about important medication changes/ issues/ alerts (e.g. Medication Safety alerts or Product alerts)

    What We Require for this Role:

    Education

    + BS Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited College of Pharmacy

    + Post-Doctorate Residency or Fellowship preferred

    Related Work Experience

    + At least 2 years related work experience required, 5+ years preferred.

    LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT

    + Current New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Pharmacist License required.

    + Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification (BPS) required.

    + Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) competency preferred.

    + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) competency preferred.

    + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) competency
