Position Overview** **:
The **Indirect Category Manager – MRO & Services** is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) and Manufacturing & Maintenance Services that support the organization’s operational and strategic goals. This role oversees the sourcing of indirect materials and services to enable both new project launches and ongoing support, while ensuring strong supplier relationships and commercial performance.
This position leads and manages a team of MRO and Category Buyers, providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure the team effectively meets business needs. The Category Manager is also expected to engage proactively with the global supply base and internal stakeholders to ensure that all indirect purchases deliver the lowest total cost of ownership, mitigate risk, and provide sustainable value.

_Key Responsibilities:_
Supplier Relationship Management
Leads assigned category and team independently, driving supplier relationship management by developing strategic sourcing strategies, building strong supplier partnerships, and managing performance to meet stakeholder expectations, mitigate risk, and support business goals. Key responsibilities include:
+ Analyzing relevant markets and spend categories to align with business needs and risk mitigation.
+ Rationalizing the supply base through segmentation to reduce supplier count while ensuring sufficient coverage for evolving technology needs.
+ Managing supplier performance through:
+ Strategic sourcing and supplier plans
+ Scorecard-driven performance reviews
+ Detailed cost analysis
Cost & Contract Management
Applies contract management expertise to balance cost, risk, and relationship dynamics, contributing to enterprise profitability. Key responsibilities include:
+ Applying contract law knowledge to structure negotiations, define commercial terms, and performance metrics.
+ Leading negotiations that deliver cost control and risk mitigation.
+ Evaluating supplier performance against contractual expectations, recognizing top performers, and resolving underperformance.
+ Driving change by resolving conflict, navigating cultural differences, and leading with data-driven insight.
+ Providing deep cost analysis using supplier data, industry benchmarks, and contractual T&Cs.
Leadership
Leads with purpose, inspiring others through vision, integrity, and accountability. Key behaviors include:
+ Delivering performance feedback and development plans that define purpose, foster growth, and reward impact.
+ Demonstrating influential leadership by inspiring commitment, driving action, and elevating team performance across the value stream.
Project Management
Drives collaboration and communication across procurement activities, managing project-related risks and delivering aligned results. Responsibilities include:
+ Building trust through credibility and proactive communication.
+ Maintaining strong cross-functional relationships to resolve issues early and consistently.
+ Championing and aligning with category strategies.
Continuous Process Improvement
Identifies, implements, and measures process improvements that advance supplier performance and business results.
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations or a related field required; MBA strongly preferred.
+ Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in procurement or related fields, with a strong emphasis on indirect sourcing and strategic supplier management.
+ Proven track record of negotiating large, complex contracts and managing multi-million-dollar supplier relationships.
+ Exceptional leadership and people development skills with experience managing salaried team members in a manufacturing environment.
+ Strong business acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders.
+ Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
+ Demonstrated success in driving cross-functional initiatives and organizational change.
+ Experience with procurement systems and tools. Intermediate to advanced user of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI and other software applications.
+ CPSM, CPIM & Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certifications preferred.
Working Conditions:
+ Willingness to travel domestic (day or overnight) by car or air up to 15% as required
+ Home office located in Mercury Marine Corporate Headquarters in Fond du Lac, WI with monthly travel to Brunswick’s Global Headquarters in Mettawa, IL.
+ Hybrid work environment with expectation to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per work week.
The anticipated pay range for this position is $100,900 to $160,800 USD annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
