    The Opportunity:

    As the Senior Cloud Operations Specialist, you will lead operational efforts in support of a mission-critical cloud environment for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) as part of the DHS Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) Program. You will work with a dynamic team of engineers, developers, and cybersecurity professionals to deliver and optimize secure, scalable, and resilient enterprise cloud solutions. This senior-level role requires both technical expertise and leadership capability to troubleshoot, innovate, and guide cloud operations aligned with federal compliance and mission priorities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Integrate identity and access management (IAM) components into cloud operations, including Azure AD, Entra ID, and AWS IAM.

    • Coordinate with security teams to enforce role-based access controls (RBAC), privileged access management (PAM), and multifactor authentication (MFA).

    • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex cloud-based solutions in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS environments.

    • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to translate technical and business requirements into scalable architectures.

    • Guide and mentor junior engineers and cloud operators in infrastructure provisioning, automation, and operational best practices.

    • Oversee deployment and configuration of cloud services with an emphasis on security, compliance, and performance.

    • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud workloads, including logging, alerts, backup, and high-availability features.

    • Maintain compliance with DoD cloud security standards (e.g., IL4/IL5, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53) through effective controls and reporting.

    • Develop and maintain operational runbooks, system documentation, and knowledge-base articles for consistent execution.

    • Support automation efforts through scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.

    • Interface with identity and access management teams to enforce RBAC, JIT access, and Zero Trust policies.

    • Participate in the change management process, disaster recovery planning, and incident response coordination.

    Qualifications:

    • Active DoD Secret Clearance

    • Current DoD 8570 Certification, IAT Level II (e.g., Security+)

    • 8+ years of IT infrastructure and operations experience, with 4+ years focused on cloud operations.

    • Proven expertise in Azure and/or AWS services including compute, networking, storage, and identity.

    • Hands-on experience supporting FedRAMP/DoD IL4+ cloud environments.

    • Strong understanding of cloud security operations, logging, alerting, and performance tuning.

    • Demonstrated experience leading cloud engineering or operational teams.

    _Desired:_

    • Experience implementing and documenting IAM policies and identity lifecycle workflows in cloud environments.

    • Familiarity with SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and Zero Trust identity models.

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.

    • Certifications such as Microsoft AZ-104, AZ-500, AWS SysOps Administrator, or CCSP.

    • Experience integrating with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure AD Conditional Access, or AWS IAM.

    • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and ICAM integration.

    • Experience automating routine cloud operations using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code.

    • Experience supporting USCG, DHS, or other federal agencies.

    Since this position can be worked in more than one location, the range shown is the national average for the position.

    The proposed salary range for this position is:

    $82,100-$172,400
