In September of 2017, Bob Evans Farms was acquired by Post Holdings, Inc. and is part of the Refrigerated Retail division. Other divisions of Post include Post Consumer Brands (Cereal), Weetabix (Cereal – UK), Michael Foods (Foodservice), and 8th Avenue Food & Provisions (Private Label). Post has aggressive growth plans for BEF, highlighted by the recent deployment of capital to support innovation, marketing and manufacturing. Responsibilities Responsible for the Food Safety and Quality of the production process across all production lines. This position also includes root cause analysis of issues and performance of corrective actions based upon investigation findings. The Lead Quality Technician is responsible for environmental equipment swabbing and communication of active sites to FSQ Technicians, Production and Sanitation Team Members. Monitor overall plant Food Safety and Quality practices. Provide guidance and counsel to FSQ Technicians. Evaluate technician competency and provide training when needed. Oversee technician scheduling and PTO approval. Communicate with Production when improper practices or unacceptable findings are noted. Assist with foreign material and breakage investigation, determine source or root cause and provide real time resolution when possible/applicable. Determine and understand FSQ Technician issues and perform problem solving to resolve the issue. Communicate to FSQ Supervisor anything that needs escalated. Monitor for late checks in Red Zone and investigate when noted. Perform weekly environmental swabbing and swabbing of vector sites. Communicate to Sanitation, Production and FSQ Technicians active environmental sites to ensure corrective actions during sanitation. Participate in Environmental Walks. Assign/oversee Glass audit completion. Provide oversight of product placed on Hold and ensure accuracy of Hold paperwork. Put product on Hold in SAP. Provide notification/updates to Warehouse when applicable. Perform GMP walks: cooler/freezer temperature checks, dairy cooler condition, proper production practices, tote audits. Report findings and perform resolution when possible. Perform safety walks. Oversee retention sample collection, complete Shelf Life testing Reports daily, and removal of expired products. Test and perform sensory analysis for applicable raw materials and ingredients prior to use to ensure no spoilage. Test and perform sensory analysis for in-process product to ensure customer specifications are met. Inspect finished product for adherence to specification. Document test results and findings during production. Ensure all documentation is complete and meets requirements. Ensure completion of documentation by L4’s at end of shift. Provide direction to Production Team Members when adjustments are needed based upon inspection findings. Monitor and ensure that proper GMP practices and sanitation during production is performed. Document abnormal findings and downtime utilizing proper forms such as foreign material findings, breakages, etc. Maintain, sanitize, and calibrate testing equipment as warranted. Collect and store retention and sensory samples. Attention to details and ability to make decisions of the quality of the product. Work independently. Complete job tasks in a timely manner to maintain the level of production required. Other duties as assigned. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety. Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner. Serve as a backup for L4. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma Use of testing equipment Use of computer to record activity Able to communicate to other Team Members the requirements Ability to plan workload accordingly to production schedule and requirements Ability to recognize tasks that need to be completed and complete them.
