Job Summary
Research Technician I, under general supervision performs entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks. The selected applicant will assist the Cherry Lab at the Patton Center for Deer Research with multiple projects involving wildlife monitoring in South Texas . The selected applicant will assist research and duties by graduate students and staff, and overall support of their various activities and needs by the Program and as needed by the Project Supervisor. This job is a temporary position, designed to last between 5- 7 months .
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Deploy, manage, and maintain a 187 camera trap grid across East Foundation properties
+ Collects and compiles camera trap data
+ Assembles and operates technical equipment.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures.
Additional Responsibilities
+ Conducts and assist with white-tailed deer captures and sedations
+ Assist with non-invasive surveys on other properties ( e.g. remote camera trap)
+ Assists with GIS and other remote sensing efforts
+ Assists with writing and editing reports, articles, scientific posters, and oral presentations
+ Data entry and maintenance of pre-existing database
+ Assist with other aspects of project activities

Minimum Requirements
Education – High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – Two years of related experience.
Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Physical Requirements – Ability to lift moderately heavy objects. Ability to exert heavy force.

This position generally does not supervise employees.
Other Requirements
+ Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends not to exceed 40 hour work week .
