Qualifications:
+ Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate grade level assignment,
elementary required
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, Master’s
preferred
+ Substantial literacy and mathematics coursework, or comparable preparation for
teaching K-5 students
+ Experience in the role of teacher leader
+ Minimum 5 years successful teaching experience at appropriate grade level
+ Desired interpersonal/communication skills include ability to:
+ Build and maintain collaborative and trusting relationships that honor
confidentiality
+ Listen to understand
+ Engage in deep and meaningful professional conversations
+ Extensive experience working in multi-initiative, multi-departmental teams
+ Effectively communicate, orally and in writing, across a broad array of
educational groups that include educators, parents/families, students, and
district staff
+ Desired instructional knowledge includes a proficient understanding of:
+ K-5 Washington State Learning Standards
+ Thorough knowledge of the 5 Dimensions of Teaching & Learning Instructional
Framework
+ Thorough knowledge of Research-based teaching strategies and practices
+ Data analysis that includes compiling, synthesizing, and making
recommendations on data gathered from a variety of sources to inform
instruction and monitor student growth
+ Effective planning and modeling of differentiated instruction
+ Extensive experience in project based learning (PBL) and other instructional models
Desired leadership qualities include ability to:
+ Provide guidance to educators to set the foundation upon which they can
improve, enhance, and develop their instructional efficacy specific to student
needs
+ Understand and apply appropriate principles of adult learning theory
+ Develop and deliver effective professional development experiences
+ Facilitate and lead to advance the learning of others
+ Utilize strategies for systematic decision making and collaborative short and
long range planning to support the broader vision of the school
+ Knowledge and proficient use of current technology tools and applications for a
variety of purposes including planning, instruction and as an effective communication
tool
+ Ability to blend a balanced use of technology to support student access to learning
+ Experience teaching at multiple grade levels and subjects, as well as across diverse
populations to include ethnically and racially diverse students, students living in
poverty, students with disabilities, and students whose primary language is other
than English
+ Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally,
racially, and linguistically diverse
+ Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication, planning and
instructional tool
+ Willingness to participate in professional development courses aligned with the
school and district initiatives
+ Ability to Read, Write and Speak Spanish fluently
Essential Functions:
+ Participate in required Instructional Coach trainings, highly capable trainings, and
professional development (examples may include effective coaching practices, adult
learning theory, implementation science, knowledge in a specific content area, state
and federal programs, or other relevant topics)
+ Work collaboratively with school leadership teams and instructional staff to develop
effective school- wide instructional strategies and practices for students in the Highly
Capable Program with the goal of increasing student academic outcomes in English
Language Arts and Mathematics
+ Support the development of a school-wide instructional and coaching model that
includes teaching, learning, assessment, reflection, and an intervention plan
designed to accelerate student achievement
+ Utilize school-wide student data to identify specific areas of needs, develop targeted
intervention plans, and monitor/maintain accurate records of growth for students
who are in the Highly Capable Program
+ Coordinate with educators, specialists, and administrators to develop a school-wide
plan that connects effective core classroom instruction with accelerated instruction
aligned to essential standards
+ Create, teach, and co-teach research based lessons for students in small group,
class, and whole school settings
+ Provide coaching, modeling, co-teaching, and consultation designed to meet the
needs of all educators including those of site-based programs
+ Provide professional development to enhance content knowledge and effective
instructional strategies and practices
+ Use data to collaboratively review, reflect and refine the overall design of the school-
wide instructional model
+ Work collaboratively with school leadership teams and instructional staff to
analyze and evaluate the overall effectiveness of services provided to students
+ Work in a flexible and cooperative manner
+ Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents, and others with dignity and respect
at all times
+ Serve as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are
expected of our students
+ Maintain regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the
assigned building/location and the Comprehensive Professional Agreement to carry
out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements
+ Other duties as assigned

Benefits/Compensation:
+ Salary range: $62,925 - $118,608 (includes Base & TRI enrichment; commensurate upon FTE, degree, credits and experience). Salary schedules can be accessed here (https://vansd.org/salary-schedules/) .
+ Additional Compensation: Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary range such as, but not limited to TRI professional learning, extended year days, extra appendix E supplemental days and professional development reimbursement.
