    Description

    The Emory University School of Medicine and the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Program Director for the Sarcoma Program, in the Division of Medical Oncology. This position requires a board-certified Medical Oncologist specializing in sarcoma, with a focus on the management of adult patients with bone and soft tissue malignancies. The Program Director will lead the sarcoma program’s clinical, educational, and research initiatives within the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology.

     

    As Program Director, the candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of experts, all of whom are dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care for patients with sarcoma. The center is housed within the new, state-of-the-art Winship at Emory Midtown facility, providing a collaborative environment for delivering world-class patient care and novel treatment approaches.

     

    Key responsibilities will include providing direct patient care, leading clinical and translational research efforts, advancing early-phase and NCTN cooperative group clinical trials, and facilitating investigator-initiated studies. The Program Director will also play a critical role in shaping the academic and educational mission of the sarcoma program, supporting graduate medical education, and fostering the development of new academic and research opportunities in the field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong leadership presence in driving program growth, innovation, and excellence in care.

     

    Candidates should hold an M.D. or equivalent degree, with a track record of successful collaboration across subspecialties, as well as a passion for patient care, research, and teaching. The Program Director will be an integral part of the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology, which is experiencing rapid growth and has a robust network of faculty and practices throughout the metro Atlanta area. Applicants must be Board eligible/certified and eligible for licensure in Georgia.

     

    The Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is a National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Hematology and Medical Oncology is a named department in the Emory School of Medicine, and its physicians are members of Emory Clinic, Inc. Programs and services are located at Emory University Hospital, Winship at Emory Midtown, Emory Decatur Hospital, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and Emory Johns Creek Hospital, and also outside Emory Healthcare at the Grady Health System and the Atlanta Veterans’ Administration Medical Center. The new Winship at Emory Midtown facility, which is home to the sarcoma program, boasts 17 stories and more than 450,000 square feet, and was built around a patient-centered multidisciplinary care approach, bringing all the necessary doctors, staff and services to the patient. The care communities will focus on patients with specific types of cancer, providing specialized infusion facilities, clinical examination rooms, clinical research, and spaces for support and rehabilitation services.

     

    NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
