Job Summary and Qualifications

The Trauma Data Abstractor PRN is responsible for abstraction of data for cases to be deemed more complex in the service lines for which CDRA abstracts.

What you will do in this role:

+ Completes abstraction process for assigned facility(ies), including abstraction of cases into the required registry tool specific to service line.

+ Responsible for reviewing medical records and following standards to abstract information according to various regulatory bodies and HCA Healthcare/Parallon.

+ Performs timely abstraction to ensure compliance with standards.

+ Completes high priority or ‘flagged’ accounts (per defined parameters to meet specific deadlines (i.e. impending registry submission, Manager request).

+ Completes edit checks and makes appropriate changes on a timely basis.

+ Follow standards and HCA/Parallon instructions to abstract all reportable cases.

+ Assist with case follow-up as required.

+ Attend educational activities as approved by Manager or Director.

+ Maintain clinical knowledge of various abstracted measures.

+ Communicate in a timely manner with manager to maintain compliance.

+ Submit data timely through the appropriate registry tool.

+ Resolve errors resulting in the rejection of records in the registry tool.

+ Maintains or exceeds established productivity and quality standards

+ Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”

+ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

+ Undergraduate (Associate or Bachelor) degree or completion of a certified coding or nursing program preferred

+ 1 – 3 years of experience in Health Information Management, Coding, Nursing and/or or Health Registry abstraction required

+ RHIT, RHIA, CCS, LVN or RN preferred
