    Role Purpose: Mid-level position maintaining Test Lab sensor database and testing equipment certifications. Assembling and validating test fixtures and equipment. Conduct periodic dynamic and static testing in accordance with governmental regulations (NHTSA). Dynamic tests are performed using free-falling impact probes and static tests are performed using electro-mechanical test devices. Use of accelerometers, load cells, displacement transducers, PC based data acquisition systems as well as knowledge of basic physics; electronics, and computer literacy are required.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    + Maintains the gage calibration program for the Test Lab.

    + Trains team of technical support representatives.

    + Plans sequence of testing and certification procedures for instruments (crash test dummies) and equipment.

    + Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and certify other instruments and test equipment.

    + Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.

    + Measures parts for conformity with specifications.

    + Aligns, repairs, replaces, and balances component parts.

    + Reassembles and certifies instruments and equipment.

    + Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment.

    + Maintains and improves systems for responding to customer inquiries via telephone, online networks, and mail.

    + Trains staff to help customers use products properly.

    + Responsible for maintaining and supporting laboratory compliance with ISO-17025 requirements to include internal auditing.

    + Communicates with Software Engineering regarding bugs and follows-up to make sure fixes are received and tested.

    + Advises management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through technical support calls with customers.

    + Advise technical writers on user documentation.

    + Assists with customer problems that appear to arise from the use of the product.

    + Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records.

    + Plans and schedules levels of support according to product release schedules.

    + Oversees the daily scheduling of activities and sets priorities for the lab staff.

    + Attends the daily bottle neck meeting as required.

    + Assists with RMA inspection, assembly and disassembly.

    + Assists in final testing of new products.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience:

    + Two year certificate from a college or technical school and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Basic data entry.

    + Mechanical ability.

    + Assembly work in a manufacturing environment; where blue print reading is required. Math aptitude to solve algebraic equations, setup tests and instrumentation, collect data, taking and recording accurate measurements, and strict attention to detail are a necessity.

    + Lifting up to 50 lbs, using hand tools - such as wrenches, torque wrenches, and screw drivers is a must.
