AWS Public Sector Industry Products and Solutions Engineering is looking for a world-class System Development Engineer to design and automate AWS infrastructure as part of our customer engineering efforts for government, education, nonprofit, and healthcare customers.

Key job responsibilities

As a System Development Engineer, you must design, develop, test, and deploy well-architected cloud infrastructure using Python, TypeScript, and the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). You must be able to dive deep into the details on operations and engineering. You will have a lot of ownership and autonomy, and we need leaders that are able to look at problems in new ways, inventing simple solutions to complex problems.

A day in the life

You will work with the product manager, the development manager, customers, solutions architects, and your system and software development colleagues to deliver high-quality systems and infrastructure to drive innovation globally in the public sector using AWS.

Basic Qualifications

- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with distributed systems at scale

- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
