Description We are looking for an experienced payroll specialist to oversee and manage payroll operations for a healthcare organization based in Carlsbad, California. This role is essential in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills and expertise in payroll systems to support the team and advance organizational objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise and maintain payroll systems to guarantee the timely and precise processing of employee compensation, benefits, taxes, garnishments, and deductions.
• Oversee payroll updates such as onboarding new hires, processing terminations, and adjusting pay rates to ensure accuracy.
• Create, manage, and preserve detailed records and reports related to payroll transactions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, wage standards, and industry best practices.
• Support audits by providing necessary records and documentation, and establish internal audit procedures.
• Evaluate and propose improvements to payroll software, systems, and processes to enhance efficiency.
• Lead payroll staff by conducting interviews, onboarding, training, and managing daily workflows, as well as providing annual performance reviews.
• Collaborate with the Shared Services team on special projects as needed.
• Handle tasks and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor with professionalism and efficiency. Requirements • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and other payroll software.
• Extensive experience managing full-cycle payroll for over 500 employees.
• Strong knowledge of California labor laws and regulations.
• Ability to accurately review timesheets and ensure compliance with payroll standards.
• Expertise in handling benefits payroll and local payroll tax processing.
• Familiarity with in-house payroll systems and bi-weekly payroll processing.
• Solid understanding of payroll taxes and related requirements.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
