Description
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Property Accountant to join our team! Hybrid work opportunity - 3 days onsite/2 remote! This role will focus on managing financial activities and reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties, ensuring compliance with standard accounting principles. Key Responsibilities
+ Record and reconcile financial transactions for the assigned property portfolio.
+ Manage daily cash reporting and address bank and treasury-related issues as needed.
+ Process tenant receipts, facilitate collections, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
+ Oversee monthly debt payments, including reconciliation and processing.
+ Prepare annual audit work papers and provide support for external audits.
+ Conduct monthly close activities as the primary financial point of contact, including:
+ Portfolio bank account reconciliations
+ Straight-line rent reconciliations
+ Real Estate in Progress and Construction in Progress reconciliations
+ Tenant security deposit reconciliations and accrual preparations
+ Lead financial meetings with property and operations management to review and analyze general ledgers.
+ Review accounts payable (AP) for portfolio; coordinate with the Staff Accountant to address discrepancies.
+ Ensure annual budgets and forecasts are updated in collaboration with cross-functional teams and provide variance commentary.
+ Complete Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and estimates for tenants.
+ Maintain the accuracy and integrity of all reporting and reconciliations.
+ Contribute to process improvement initiatives by adhering to and suggesting changes to standard operating procedures.
+ Handle special projects and tasks assigned by management.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BA/BS), preferably with experience in real estate development or construction.
+ Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and basic accounting procedures.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with enterprise accounting software such as SAP, NetSuite, Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, or the equivalent.
+ 3-5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
+ Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to deliver accurate reports under deadlines.
