The Cleaner/Custodian - On-Call is responsible for supporting the maintenance of high-quality Head Start classrooms and overall facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance of facilities and other services with Head Start Performance Standards and other state and federal regulations and providing custodial services to the program. Responsibilities also include custodial maintenance of all facilities to which s/he is assigned.

What You’ll Do:

- Performs basic cleaning tasks, effectively utilizing resources to accomplish tasks

- Picks up and disposes of trash within the center and on the grounds.

- Cleans classrooms and other areas of the Head Start Center, including all ledges, tables, and furniture.

- Cleans glass doors and windows as needed.

- Keeps restrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition. Sweep, scrub, and wax floors, clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls. Clean mirrors, sinks, and water fountains. Replace deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.

- Dusts and cleans window sills, banisters, and accessible cabinets.

- Locks and unlocks building doors & playground gates.

- Maintains an inventory of janitorial supplies.

- Keeps stock of cleaning materials and equipment needed to do the work.

-Informs the supervisor when materials are needed or when equipment is in need of repair or replacement.

-Maintains the grounds (including the playground) around the center by picking up and disposing of all litter, glass, etc.

-Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.

What You’ll Bring: 1. Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.

2. Travel required locally up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.

3. Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

How Much: This position pays $15.49/hr.
