    Responsibilities

    The System Medical Director, Clinical Alignment and Purchasing role is pivotal in finding the right clinical representation for each purchasing decision, ensuring that our procurement processes align with the highest standards of clinical care and operational efficiency and engage both employed and independent physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). This role will also focus on overall alignment of physicians and APPs with the office of the CPEO.

     

    This role will report to the Chief Operations Officer for the CPEO. This role will also partner closely with supply chain, strategy, finance, service lines, compliance and clinical leadership to socialize a clear vision across CSH that facilitates cultural and operational changes to the supply chain model to support clinical procurement and operational efficiency.

    Essential Key Job Responsibilities

    + Clinical Engagement: Ensure the clinical voice is integrated into all alignment and purchasing decisions by actively seeking input from clinical staff at various levels. Advocate for the needs and perspectives of clinical staff in procurement discussions, ensuring that their requirements are prioritized. Establish and maintain feedback mechanisms to continuously gather and incorporate clinical insights into purchasing processes.

    + Representation: Identify the appropriate clinical representatives for each purchasing decision based on their expertise and relevance to the specific procurement. Ensure comprehensive and informed choices by involving these representatives in the evaluation and selection process. Provide training and support to clinical representatives to ensure they understand the procurement process and can effectively contribute.

    + Collaboration: Partner with supply chain, service lines, finance, strategy, compliance, and all clinical leadership to align purchasing strategies with organizational goals. Facilitate open and effective communication between departments to ensure that clinical decisions are well-informed and aligned with clinical and operational objectives. Lead and participate in joint initiatives that require cross-departmental collaboration to enhance outcomes. Build and lead a high-performing cross-functional team dedicated to optimizing clinical purchasing and clinical engagement. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.

    + Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for clinical alignment and purchasing that support the organization's mission and objectives. Ensure that clinical purchasing strategies are aligned with the long-term goals of the organization that are led by supply chain and address the evolving needs of clinical staff. Promote the adoption of innovative procurement practices and technologies that can enhance clinical care and operational efficiency.

    + Operational Excellence: Ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of the clinical alignment and procurement processes by identifying and implementing best practices. Develop and monitor performance metrics to evaluate the success of procurement activities and identify areas for improvement.

    + Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure the best value and quality in clinical supplies and equipment. Continuously evaluate vendor performance and seek opportunities to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of purchased goods and services.

    + Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. Enforce procurement policies and procedures that promote compliance and ethical practices. Identify and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities to protect the organization and ensure the integrity of the purchasing process.

    + Service Line Alignment: Partner with service lines to identify opportunities for performance improvement and implement solutions that enhance clinical care and operational outcomes. Work closely with service line leaders to ensure that alignment and purchasing decisions support clinical service line strategies and objectives. Collaborate with service lines to allocate resources effectively, ensuring that clinical needs are met while optimizing operational efficiency.

    Qualifications

    + MD, DO with extensive experience in clinical purchasing, healthcare operations, or related fields.

    + Board Certification in Clinical Field

    + 10+ years clinical practice

    + 10+ years executive leadership in healthcare

    + Travel 50%

    + Experience leading large health care systems to improve clinical purchasing

    + Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

    + Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and levels of the organization.

    + In-depth understanding of clinical needs and healthcare procurement processes.

    + Transformational leader that is action and goal oriented.

    + Proven success leading across a large geographically diverse health system

    + Excellent problem solving and process analysis skills

    Pay Range

     

    $111.94 - $179.04
