    HW Engineer

    **Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled Electrical/Electronic Product Design Engineer to design and prototype new products, focusing on electrical components and electronic controllers. This role also involves supporting software/firmware development for new product prototypes, leveraging technological advancements.

    Essential Functions:

    • Design, verify, and prototype MCU, MPU, or FPGA-based electronic control systems and communication interfaces.

    • Utilize hardware development facilities and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools for product development.

    • Ability to design and implement PCB designs that meet electrical, EMC, Safety, mechanical, thermal, and DFA/DFM requirements of the System.

    • Collaborate with the software/firmware team to troubleshoot and resolve technical and logistical issues.

    • Work collaboratively with other engineering resources, project management, purchasing etc. and assist in applying core engineering concepts to solve complex, unfamiliar, and novel problems.

    • Maintain aggressive product development schedules.

    • Operate with minimal supervision.

    • Work effectively as part of a team. Develop and construct demonstration platforms to showcase the Teams work.

    • Participate to standardization groups to advance technologies inside and outside the company

    • Create training plan and train teams with EMC, PCB, and other HW-related matter

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering, or a related field.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing MCU, MPU, or FPGA-based electronic control systems.

    • Proven experience in digital and analog mixed circuits design.

    • Strong knowledge of control system communication protocols such as I2C, CAN, RS485, USB, PCIe, I/O Link, HART, BT, Wi-Fi, Cellular and Ethernet.

    • Proficiency in simulation(CST, PSPICE or like), schematic capture(Cadence), and PCB layout(Allegro) tools.

    • Expertise in DC to DC power converter circuits.

    • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic/troubleshooting skills.

    • Ability to work cross-functionally (i.e., with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Project Management, purchasing) is strongly desired.

    • Prior experience working with design packages and product Lifecyle Management (PLM) tools is required (more specifically Cadence, Allegro, and Windchill PDM or similar type processes)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with ANSI C and Assembly language.

    • Knowledge of bootloader and software device drivers.

    + The annual salary for this position is between $128K – $150K + COLA-Cost of Living Allowance + Bonus depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
