    Job Summary

    THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION (20 HOURS PER WEEK) THAT REQUIRES A REGULAR SCHEDULE WITHIN CORE WORK HOURS (8:00 AM CST - 4:00 PM CST). PREFERRED WORKING HOURS ARE 9:00 AM CST – 1:00 PM CST.

     

    Primary support for an established NASA public-facing competition, the App Development Challenge (ADC), available to middle and high school students. The ADC is a coding challenge in which NASA presents technical problems to middle and high school students seeking student contributions to deep space exploration missions. Your qualifications must demonstrate experience working with similar type events and a level of expertise in computer languages and coding that exceeds that of a novice.

    General Requirements:

    + Provide weekly updates to customers and assist with project reporting

    + Develop and implement ADC project plans and schedules to ensure milestones are met

    + Enhance participation ADC through coordination and partnerships with NASA, commercial partners, and external stakeholders to identify technical content for solving real-world problems to execute learner-driven solutions aligned with NASA technical disciplines and national education standards

    + Support the annual ADC Awards Ceremony and culminating event at Johnson Space Center

    + Provide resource sessions (live virtual connections and/or recorded short demo and biweekly office hours during the design phase) to support implementation for both the middle school and high school challenges

    + Coordinate technical interviews with NASA SMEs for ADC student participants during the team phase of the challenge interviews

    + Support the organization, planning and implementation of a ‘Top Teams’ selection show or announcement.

    + Conduct information sessions to support ADC entry

    + Research and develop an ADC Challenge Concept Paper identifying challenge requirements, requirements, and schedule

    + Assist in preparing and updating the ADC Challenge Handbook based on feedback and new developments

    + Review video submissions and select top entries for detailed evaluation and interviews. Write personalized assessment responses for each submitting team

    + Develop and facilitate a Lead Teacher Training PowerPoint presentation and supporting documents

    + Develop Mentor Training Materials

    + Update or create an Hour of Code Training Presentation and associated collateral material

    + Post weekly FAQs to address common user inquiries

    + Participate in ADC meetings to ensure full involvement in the planning and execution of events

     

    Required Minimum Education

     

    + Master’s degree in education or technical subject (science, technology engineering, or mathematics)

    + Teaching Certificate/License

     

    Required Years of Experience

     

    + Minimum of 4 years of experience

     

    Required Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.

     

    + Knowledge of computer coding

    + Application development experience

    + Game Engine Scripting (Unity and Unreal)

    + Experience in computer science instruction or knowledge of computer science methodology

     

    Preferred Skills, Qualifications, Technical Experience, Certifications, etc.

     

    + Ability to coordinate technical reviews and operations with engineering focus

    + Understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
