General Description
Dr. Keena Lipsitz, Professor of Political Science at Queens College and the Graduate Center, is seeking a graduate-level research assistant to support grant-funded research that will involve identifying and interviewing organizations in Pennsylvania involved in census mobilization work, i.e. groups that work to ensure that residents of communities, which are typically undercounted during the census, fill out their census forms.
The RA will work approximately 5 hours per week from June 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026 performing tasks such as the following:
+ Conducting literature reviews
+ Researching 2020 census mobilization efforts
+ Coordinating and scheduling interviews
+ Interviewing and transcribing
+ Organizing workshops
+ Writing reports
+ Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
+ Be enrolled in a social science MA or PhD program
+ Be organized and able to work independently
+ Be a strong writer
+ Be authorized to work in the U.S.
+ Be willing to make 3-4 trips to Pennsylvania during the year with other team members (fully compensated and all expenses paid)

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
