Job Description Summary:
The Senior Strategy Analyst – A8X will be part of a dynamic team supporting the Air National Guard strategic planning processes enable a Guard force that is capable and sustainable as a cost-effective element of national security. Provides a broad range of technical support in all aspects of the Plans, Programs & Requirements Directorate (NGB A5/8) mission. Contributes to the development and revision of Air National Guard (ANG) strategic documents to ensure alignment with organizational goals and evolving policy directives. Evaluates, edits, and recommends improvements for publications, doctrine, and strategy guidance and documents. Performs complex analysis to inform data-driven decision making as well as be dedicated to supporting Strategic Master Plan (SMP) development. Performs data analytics, reviews mathematical models and decision support tools, and presents decision results on complex organizational issues to senior leaders and key decision makers. Roles & Responsibilities:
+ Analyze and evaluate national-level strategic issues and external agency documents—including policies, regulations, studies, concepts of operations, and strategic guidance—relevant to the Air National Guard (ANG).
+ Develop clear, objective-based briefings that identify key issues, outline assumptions, assess potential solutions, and provide actionable recommendations.
+ Ensure all deliverables are submitted within the deadlines established by A8X to support timely, informed decision-making by senior leadership.
+ Advice and inform ANG studies, analysis and lessons learned activities as necessary.
+ Provide a broad range of technical support in all aspects of the NGB A5/8 mission.
+ Conduct evaluations and develop briefings on current national-level strategic issues and topics relevant to the Air National Guard (ANG), as well as on external agency documents such as policies, regulations, studies, concepts of operations, and strategic plans.
+ Clearly define the issues, objectives, and underlying assumptions; analyze potential solutions; and provide well-supported recommendations based on the effectiveness of proposed approaches.
+ Ensure all analyses and briefings are delivered by the deadlines established by A8X to support informed, timely decision-making by senior leadership.
+ Provide recommendations to the ANG for the development and continuous revision of annual ANG Strategic Master Plan (SMP), DANG’s Planning Choices, Programming Guidance (DPG), and other DANG direction and guidance documents, based on assigned applicable by timelines at that specific time.
+ Support data science and analytics efforts by applying mathematical, statistical, and econometric methods to evaluate alternatives and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
+ Assist in the development and review of mathematical models and decision support tools to ensure quality, complete and timely products are provided to internal and external stakeholders.
+ Apply various statistical and mathematical techniques to convert data and information into analytical results to advise technical, financial and program/product managers to solve complex problems.
+ Help with the planning and execution procedures for requesting, review, accepting, storage, retrieval, updating and dissemination of cost, programmatic and technical data.
+ Perform a broad range of operations research analysis functions to examine unique problems through creativity, innovative techniques, advance approaches, and/or new technologies.
+ Provide data science and analytics expertise, advisory support and assistance to Air National Guard programs, projects and operations.
+ Maintain proficiency through participation in technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, research and training.
+ Research, write, and present complex data analysis results in an understandable format for senior leaders and decision makers. Technical data visualization products may be in the form of information papers, background papers, decision papers or briefings.
+ Advise and inform Air National Guard studies, analysis and lessons learned activities as necessary.
Requirements:
+ BA/BS
+ 10+ years’ experience in strategic planning and analysis
+ 5 years’ experience in data science and analytical support
+ Top Secret clearance
Location:
This position is on-site located primarily at Joint Base Andrews, with occasional meetings at the Pentagon and the Herbert R. Temple Jr. Army National Guard Readiness Center (TARC). The government may permit telework.
