Job Title: Formulation Chemist IIIJob Description
The Formulation Chemist III will work closely with the laboratory and other department staff, focusing on the development and research of fluorine-free firefighting foams for Class A combustible materials and Class B flammable and combustible liquids. This role involves creating and developing novel formulations for the fire protection industry and collaborating with R&D functions to explore, test concepts, and advance new technologies.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct research and development with a primary focus on improving current products.
+ Design and execute research that addresses customer needs and supports business objectives.
+ Document and report all testing procedures, results, and observations in a laboratory notebook.
+ Perform laboratory tests according to established procedures.
+ Collaborate with manufacturing for new product development, including product trials and scale-up.
+ Provide technical support for customer-focused projects and assist in resolving product quality issues.
+ Effectively communicate technical information with other departments and teams within the organization.
+ Provide documentation through written reports.
+ Ensure compliance with Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) standards.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Chemistry, Formulation, and Colloid Science.
+ Expertise in surfactant-based product formulations.
+ Experience in research and development within a laboratory setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ A degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with an advanced degree preferred.
+ A minimum of 5 years of formulation experience.
+ Over 5 years of experience with surfactant-based formulations in firefighting foams, cleaning, agricultural, pharmaceutical, personal care, or related industries.
+ Knowledge and experience in colloid suspension sciences.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of a laboratory and R&D setting, alongside an office environment. Working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with flexibility to start earlier if desired. The lab is fast-paced, developing around 1,000 formulations per year as a team.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
