We are seeking an Associate Director of Clinical Research Operations to join the leadership team within our Institute. This role involves primary oversight, coordination, and managerial responsibilities for clinical trials, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. You will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of strategies that enhance our clinical research operations.
Responsibilities
+ Provide supervision and delegate work assignments while evaluating the Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs).
+ Justify and post new and replacement positions, screen applicants, and onboard and train staff.
+ Conduct annual performance reviews and establish fiscal year goals for staff.
+ Monitor, direct, and supervise staff to facilitate efficient operations.
+ Determine workloads and protocol assignments for CRCs.
+ Ensure timely organization and submission of subject data collected by CRCs.
+ Prepare CRCs for monitoring and auditing visits.
+ Collaborate with clinical teams to facilitate participant flow and coordinate research activities.
+ Assist with clinical duties such as IV starts, vitals, and blood draws as needed.
+ Assess trial complexity and resource allocation to ensure patient safety and research excellence.
+ Implement processes to streamline and improve the work environment.
+ Assist in developing and executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
+ Develop standardized forms and study tools and promote cross-coverage with leadership.
+ Provide protocol management and research expertise in collaborative research meetings.
+ Organize projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to complete tasks.
+ Promote positive relationships and outcomes with private industry and external agencies.
+ Serve as a resource and leader for participants, CRCs, PIs, and research staff.
Essential Skills
+ Experience managing and leading clinical operations teams within a clinical research unit in an academic medical setting.
+ Previous work experience in clinical operations as CRC, CRN, or other ClinOps roles.
+ Experience in clinic, clinical care, and standard of care environments.
+ Clinical strategy, leadership, vendor management, and regulatory affairs expertise.
+ Nursing License.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program or a Bachelor’s degree in related health science, health management, or allied health fields.
+ Leadership experience managing multiple teams and direct reports.
+ Certification as a Clinical Research Professional through a national accrediting body.
+ Minimum of ten years of experience in clinical research.
Work Environment
The work environment will initially be onsite and transition to a hybrid function once the team is stabilized and an established operating rhythm is achieved. The team currently consists of approximately 12-15 members, with plans to expand by developing Disease Groups and hiring Clinical Research Operations Managers. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
