    Job Description

    We are seeking a talented Controls Engineer to design and implement electrical controls systems for automated material handling equipment. This project and application-based role involves developing specifications, reviewing electrical drawings, and creating PLC/PAC logic. You will be involved from the concept phase through design, programming, testing, and onsite support, serving as the primary technical contact and interacting directly with clients.

    Responsibilities

    + Understand and utilize department process workflow steps to complete project work.

    + Meet with clients and internal project teams to define applications and produce operating documents.

    + Lead training for co-op personnel and junior engineers by delegating project tasks.

    + Lead small to medium-sized projects independently with minimal supervision.

    + Collaborate with project leads on large projects to execute design per requirements.

    + Define and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met.

    + Forecast resources, materials, and expenses, meeting financial budgets.

    + Generate project-specific documentation using standard company formats.

    + Develop application programs to control automated equipment based on system design and operational requirements.

    + Create standard PLC programs for real-time control and data collection.

    + Utilize automation programming software for PLC programs interfacing with devices like network I/O and camera systems.

    + Customize standard products to meet project requirements.

    + Design Human Machine Interface (HMI) screens.

    + Conduct preliminary in-house testing and on-site testing at client facilities.

    + Interact with mechanical and electrical engineering during design reviews.

    + Collaborate with engineers to integrate project solutions.

    + Perform on-site technical checkout and systems commissioning at client sites.

    + Update documentation to 'as-built' status upon project completion.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of experience in designing and commissioning industrial controls systems within a material handling environment.

    + 3+ years of programming experience with PLC/PAC Controllers.

    + Proficiency in RSLogix and Studio 5000.

    + Knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.

    + Experience with ladder logic, structured text, and function block programming languages.

    + HMI experience.

    + Willingness to travel 50% of the time.

    Work Environment

    This position is fully remote with a 50% travel requirement. You will travel to client sites for programming, commissioning, and start-up activities. When not traveling, work will be conducted from home.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
