Job Title: Engineering Technician
Job Description
The role involves on-site supervision and monitoring of contractors for rural fiber build-out projects. Responsibilities include reporting and recording construction quantities accurately.
Responsibilities
+ Accurately measure and record quantities, distances, and installation methods used in the field.
+ Track miles of conduit installed using techniques such as plowing, directional drilling, and boring under obstacles.
+ Meet with contractors daily to review progress and enter data into spreadsheets.
+ Compile weekly summaries and submit detailed monthly reports to the main office.
+ Maintain accurate records and update drawings for final as-built records.
Essential Skills
+ 0-5+ years of experience in construction inspection or engineering technician work.
+ Experience with underground utilities or fiber splicing.
+ Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
+ Ability to work overtime.
+ Good communication skills.
+ Valid Driver's License.
+ Understanding of Microsoft Office.
Work Environment
The position is on-site 5 days a week, primarily located in Sauk County and Iowa County. Work hours are Monday-Thursday for 12-hour days and Friday until noon. No overnight travel is required, and the project continues until late in the year, with potential layoff when the ground is frozen. A company vehicle is provided for daily use.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
