Job Title: Conventional Machinist
Job Description
The Conventional Machinist will operate 2 & 3 axis machines, including Mill and Hone Machines, to produce complex aerospace parts. The role involves fully operating multiple machines, performing pre-operational inspections, and studying blueprints and manuals to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
Responsibilities
+ Fully operate multiple machines, including conventional and Hone Machines.
+ Perform pre-operational inspections to ensure machinery is ready for use.
+ Study blueprints, manuals, and dispatch specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
+ Perform complex set-ups on multiple machines, including checking or changing chucking jaws, tools, etc.
+ Operate sit-down forklift to retrieve parts and load them onto racks.
+ Utilize cranes and hoists to load and unload parts from racks onto machines.
+ Operate machines on trial runs to verify accuracy of machine settings and programmed controls.
+ Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
+ Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
+ Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine as required.
+ Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
+ Track time on each function or task by maintaining time records.
+ Carry out day-to-day work following the department's continuous improvement plan.
Essential Skills
+ Ability to read program codes.
+ Ability to read and understand blueprints.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ 5+ years of experience.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Basic computer skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Troubleshooting skills.
+ Knowledge of blueprint reading.
Work Environment
This role is based in a large manufacturing environment with approximately 25-27 machinists working across three shifts in the machine shop. The facility is non-union and has undergone extensive modernization to create a state-of-the-art industrial enterprise.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
