    General Summary:

    This Senior Director, IT position (Data Platform, Engineering and Operations) will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data capabilities. We're seeking a visionary, hands on leader to drive the build out of a modern enterprise-wide lake house, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and compliance. and enabling cutting edge analytics solutions

     

    This role will be leading a talented team of engineers and architects, fostering a culture of excellence while balancing speed of delivery with innovation and operational excellence. This role will also collaborate with cross functional teams to align data platform, engineering and operational efforts with business objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + **Vision and Strategy:** Define and lead the vision, strategy, roadmap for data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, governance, data quality, onservability etc.), aligning with business objectives and technological advancements to enable data platforms as the strategic enabler for AI

    + **Relentless Execution of Data Platform(s) Development:** Oversee rapid incremental delivery of design, development, and deployment of data platforms/products/solutions, including platform engineering to facilitate frameworks, self-service templates and agentic automation ensuring seamless data integration, quality, compliance and security.

    + **Data Engineering:** Lead Data Engineering team for all data pipeline development from ingestion to analytics/AI ready data for diverse data volumes, variety and frequency (streaming, batch, microbatches) with build in governance and security. Lead the migration of pipelines from legacy warehouses to a modern lakehouse hub, embrace GenAI and low code/no code mindset to drive velocity of pipeline development

    + **Self Service and CoE Enablement:** Partner with business stakeholders and internal data solutions team to empower business for self-service. Establish and lead CoE’s for BI with platform and enablement from ideation to adoption at the core

    + **DecSecOps:** Establish robust DevSecOps capabilities with a rigorous focus on automation of data pipeline delivery process with built in security controls

    + **Oversee Operations:** Manage the day-to-day operations of data platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability. Establish and track data SLA’s key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and drive operational maturity

    + **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Collaborate with IT and Business with a product mindset to ensure data platforms meet business needs and to drive innovation. Also collaborate with offshore teams and vendors to ensure high quality and timely delivery.

    + **Hands-On Leadership with Engineering Mindset:** Be actively involved in details of execution (technical, architectural, delivery, troubleshooting) providing technical oversight with an engineering mindset to drive velocity of development work

    + **Challenge Status Quo:** Encourage innovation and continuous improvement by challenging existing processes and proposing new solutions.

     

    Provides leadership for those involved in the development, design and optimization of one or more information technology and systems functions supporting company business processes and technical information systems platforms. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analysis, selection and modification of enterprise systems, application software, installation of network hardware/software and database management. Provides direction for the effort required to protect the company’s data, tools and information systems. Ensures infrastructure architecture standards maximize efficiency and support platform compatibility. Usually requires subject matter knowledge of user group for practical application of system characteristics. Coordinates delivery of services to user groups and ensures IT service is uninterrupted. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of IT-related work experience with a Bachelor's degree.

    OR

    12+ years of IT-related work experience without a Bachelor’s degree.

     

    • 7+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.

    • 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., VP level and above).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in an IT-related field.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provides guidance and directs the management of business requirements and/or solutions across multiple business and IT domains to meet business, functional, and non-functional requirements.

    • Oversees business delivery and enforcement and the development of requirements for process or system solutions spanning multiple business domains by consulting with stakeholders and directing IT teams.

    • Networks with colleagues across the organization as well as with external partners to gain insight, ideas, and connections.

    • Identifies and promotes a unifying vision throughout the organization with associated day-to-day goals and creates a climate in which people want to contribute.

    • Communicates performance expectations and monitors and evaluates performance of members and managers of team to ensure plans are met.

    • Unites individuals from different backgrounds, locations, and cultures to solve major challenges.

    • Empowers teams to stay abreast of industry best practices, and holds teams accountable to identify sustainable best practices which align with the strategic and tactical goals of the organization.

    • Motivates organization to accept change and adapt priorities in order to meet changing demands.

    • Drives creativity and innovation across the company by promoting cross-team collaboration, developing creative solutions to problems, leveraging new technology, and encouraging the same behavior in others.

    • Develops, coaches, and mentors experienced managers of the team and provides development assignments.

    • Manages the performance of team members and managers by meeting regularly with each member to discuss current and future state of key projects, identifies developmental opportunities, and evaluates performance based on key metrics.

    • Drives and directs others through the solution design process by ensuring that solutions are aligned with business strategies and operational work flow, prioritizes projects based on budgets, and establishes appropriate budgets for solution design and vendor service-level agreements.

    Level of Responsibility:

    • Working independently with no supervision.

    • Providing supervision to other supervisors/managers who are direct reports.

    • Making decisions that are significant in impact, influencing overall program or project success, finances, and/or the ability to meet objectives; Errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; Errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.

    • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.

    • Substantial amount of financial accountability (e.g., manages a substantially large budget, is responsible for P&L for a department or part of the organization).

    • Having a great degree of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is making or directly making key decisions that have substantial impact on the organization).

    • Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short or long-term memory.

    • Using deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.

    • Exercising exceptional creativity is needed to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products/ processes without established objectives or known parameters.

    Pay range** **and Other Compensation & Benefits** **:

    $222,200.00 - $333,200.00

     

    The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
