    Job Description

    This position supports digital communications and web development needs within UF Human Resources and affiliated departments. The Web Developer II is responsible for developing, updating, and maintaining websites and digital communications platforms. This includes implementing design and functionality updates, providing support for digital projects, and working with colleagues to improve web-based content delivery.

     

    The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of digital content development, user experience design, SEO, web accessibility, and web analytics. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, WordPress development, and related tools (e.g., SQL, ACF, JSON) is required. Familiarity with CMS systems and build processes, and exposure to modern web development frameworks such as React and NodeJS is preferred. This position emphasizes collaboration, technical execution, and client-focused service.

     

    As a part of the UFHR Communications & Worklife team, this role works in concert with a creative team and UF administration, including the management teams of UF Human Resources and its affiliates, to enhance the role and function of administrative offices by providing guidance of digital communications and content management. This includes performing special assignments that are a matter of high priority as well as strategically analyzing information for websites and electronic media. These functions inherently require emphasis on several areas—customer care, project management, teamwork, and responsiveness.

     

    + Designs, develops, and maintains websites and web applications using WordPress and related tools. Assists in managing 3rd party plugins, resolving technical conflicts, and applying appropriate solutions based on user or stakeholder feedback.

    + Supports communications campaigns and assists in the implementation of web-based content and solutions. Manages digital projects with key stakeholders and collaborates with the UFHR Communications & Worklife team to develop engaging and effective electronic media.

    + Works with internal stakeholders to maintain and improve the usability, accessibility, and performance of administrative websites. Conducts content updates and enhancements to ensure websites meet UF web standards.

    + Maintains understanding of current web technologies. Ensures that code is valid, properly structured, accessible, secure and meets industry standards. Tests and debugs websites routinely for functionality, cross-browser/device compatibility and compliance with accessibility guidelines. Uses metrics and analytics to support iterative site improvement.

    + Performs related work as required.

    Expected Salary:

    $56k - $62k

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in web development or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

    Preferred:

    Proven experience with WordPress, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and accessibility standards.

     

    Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

     

    Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

     

    Strong focus on body of work and overall portfolio.
