    This is an on-site position located in Tallahassee, FL

    Position Overview and Responsibilities:

    The incumbent of this position serves as a Process Lead for the Applications Maintenance Services (AMS) team. Primary duties include:

     

    + Work with software developers, business analysts, data analysts, and other technical and non-technical subject-matter experts to coordinate and facilitate work.

    + Assess and continually improve existing processes, leveraged from team members and customers generated in Scrum Retrospective meetings.

    + Work with various technical teams (Middle Tier, DBAs, Network Administrators, Enterprise Development Architects, PMO, etc.) to assist in resolving issues/barriers with applications.

    + Proactively identify risks and issues affecting the Scrum teams and the portfolio. Appropriately escalate these issues, with recommendations, to (senior) management.

    + Assist AMS team Manager with the overseeing, mentoring, and monitoring of assigned IT staff augmentation consultants.

    + Oversee IT contractor resources within AMS team to ensure resources are performing in compliance with their contractually designated duties.

    + Review and assess maintenance service requests and assist in the development and communication of technical and business requirements between customers and software developers.

    + Coordinate and oversee ongoing application technology upgrades.

    + Coordinate and oversee application architecture documentation and staff cross-training activities.

    + Effectively identify change and use appropriate protocols to manage and communicate change effectively.

    + Develop presentations and summary reports for our stakeholders and technical team.

    + Hold daily status meetings with Scrum Team members, to facilitate the flow of information and provide an outlet to remove obstacles/barriers.

    + Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.

    + Effectively coordinate resources and assignments among project assignees. Ensure work assignments are assigned to the appropriate team member(s) and that service levels are met.

    + Work closely with the AMS Manager to ensure work assignments are assigned to the appropriate AMS team member(s) and that service levels are met.

    + Work with the AMS manager in establishing, implementing, and refining technical and work process policies, standards and procedures. Adhere to the DEP project management methodology, standards, policies and procedures, as well as those technical standards and policies relevant to assigned user stories/tasks.

    + Manage relationships with DEP program area business partners. Develop strong and collaborative relationships with customers to achieve positive project outcomes.

    + Demonstrate strong relationship and interpersonal skills in working with technical staff, program staff and the vendor community.

    + Coach, mentor, motivate and oversee project team members and contractors.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + 3+ years’ direct work experience in project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution

    + In-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing activities related to planning, managing and implementing software projects and programs

    + Documented and proven ability to formulate project plans for managing and monitoring progress on software development projects; to think logically and to analyze and solve problems; compile, organize and analyze data; to evaluate and monitor projects, plans and schedules and implement corrective action plans

    + Strong customer service orientation

    + Ability to be creative, to use sound judgment, and to display foresight to identify potential problems and design/specifications and assigned application software systems

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

    + Ability to work independently

    + Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments

    + Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, oral and written communication skills

    + Ability to write technical, business, and plain language documents and/or emails, with great attention to detail in all written communications

    + Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality

    + Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies and processes

    + Ability to be persuasive, encouraging, and motivating

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

    + Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification

    + Familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project

    + Experience managing multiple projects concurrently

    + Experience managing medium-to-large scale software application development (IT) projects

    + Solid understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies (e.g., waterfall, iterative, agile, etc.)

    + Familiarity with Agile development, specifically Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP) and Kanban

    + Ability to document processes and standards

    + Experience developing and maintaining detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project

    + Familiarity with environmental regulatory business processes and practices

    + Knowledge and understanding of DEP’s technical environment

    Position of Special Trust Requirement:

    This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

     

    Pay: $60,000 - $62,000
