    Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (Durant, OK)


    **Job Summary:** Implement the College Freshman Year Initiative (FYI) Program to provide avenues for Choctaw students to complete their higher education goals. You will report to the Senior Manager of college Freshman Year initiative.

     

    This is an education role that will be housed at Southeastern

     

    Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

    Primary Tasks:

    1. You will foster a Choctaw learning community on a specific college campus while informing all Choctaw students in college about career opportunities available through Choctaw Nation programs and their specific college’s program by developing partnerships to guide students, and collaborate in developing, and evaluating projects.

    2. Manage daily program activities and ensure program requirements are met.

    3. Oversee and conduct workshops, Camp Chahta, attend retreats, meetings and events hosted by specific college or Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma to ensure smooth operations of the program.

    4. Provide guidance to Student Ambassador and Student Worker/Work Study positions to ensure program goals and deadlines are met.

    5. You will meet with College FYI students, once per week, to discuss topics such as goal setting, major or field discovery, future plans, review degree plans and potential schedule conflicts, resume drafting, and future expectations.

    6. Teach the College FYI Cohort of College Success/orientation on a designated campus by developing curriculum.

    7. Assist all Choctaw students with information in regards enrollment, financial aid, tutoring center, transferring as it applies to their specific college campus, monitor Choctaw students’ grades that have signed a College FYI Expectation and Agreement form.

    8. Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date records per program requirements.

    9. Monitor program activities to ensure adherence to tribal, federal, and program policies, regulations, and goals.

    10. Perform other tasks as assigned.

    Requirements:

    * Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or the equivalent experience in a related field, or 4 years directly related experience.

    * Discreet handling of confidential information

    * Working knowledge of social media outlets.

    * Strong organizational, written & verbal communication skills a must.

    * 2 years prior-related work experience.
