    JOB TITLE:Business Exploratory TeacherSCHOOL:Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business AcademySUMMARY:This teaching position provides instruction and supervision of middle school-aged students in the area of Business Education, as well as assisting in the planning and facilitating of interest-based College and Career Readiness enrichment activities. The program’s curriculum meets a range of Career and Technical Standards that will familiarize students with the skills and knowledge for either the workforce or a post-secondary education program in a Business or Information Technology related field. Must be willing to work extra contractual days in the summer for magnet professional development (up to 5) Must be willing to work extra contractual days in the summer in preparation for the transition to magnet (up to 20) ENDORSEMENTS:Any K-8, 5-12, or 5-8 endorsement requiredESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides instruction based on the building magnet business and leadership theme and the Iowa Career and Technical Education Middle School Standards. Collaborates and assists in the planning and facilitation of enrichment activities involving context experts from the community and the school district. Collects data for the purpose of evaluating program effectiveness and to develop instruction and experiences in response to student needs and interests. Adheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program. Communicates responsibly with all staff and community partners. Integrates and applies vocational English to daily lesson plans and accommodations for limited English speaking students. Interacts with students, co-workers, and community in a positive, cooperative and professional manner to demonstrate to students a model of expected behavior. Assists and collaborates with the principal, school counselor, staff, parents and students on matters pertaining to student achievement. Maintains appropriate records and protects the confidentiality of data. Meets the 8 Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria on a consistent basis. Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis. Other duties as assigned. In addition, the specific skills/educational qualifications for this include: LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas contained in technical documents, assessment data, professional journals and regulations. Ability to effectively write reports and communications to students, colleagues, parents and staff. Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, staff and students. Ability to assist students in the areas of language and literacy MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions. Ability to assist students in implementing these mathematical concepts. Ability to perform and teach practical algebra and geometry.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. REQUIRED DISPOSITIONS:Believes that all children can attain high levels of learning. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom and building including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when required by instructional activities and when supervising students outside of the classroom.
