Job Description Summary
The Integrated Manufacturing Engineering (formerly Production Technologies) Department is looking for an experienced engineer that is interested in working in a cross-functional environment that is focused on delivering high quality aerospace composite hardware to meet our customer needs and business demands. Within this role you will work directly in our Batesville, MS shop along side the manufacturing engineering, quality and technical staff responsible for the production of aerospace composite hardware. You will be the primary liaison for the design engineering team based in Cincinnati, OH and will have the opportunity to gain domain expertise in how the critical design functionality translates into process control and part manufacturing on the shop floor, and vice versa.
Typical job functions include, but are not limited to, assessing the quality of new make hardware, supplier process qualification against the critical design functions of our hardware, waste reduction efforts to improve producibility and the quality of hardware, development of breakthrough technologies to improve production of composite hardware through process and / or material developments, etc. This role is critical to the success of GE Aerospace to serve our customers and meet essential business commitments. With a breadth of exposure to the diverse portfolio of GE Aerospace composite applications across the business.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Gain in depth understanding of the production issues faced in our shops and be the primary source of information to communicate to the cross-functional team responsible for delivering high quality composite hardware, on time to meet customer needs.
+ Developing specialized knowledge in the design, performance and production of composite hardware.
+ Has awareness of best practices and how their responsibilities integrate with others; Seeking advice from subject matter experts where applicable.
+ Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of expertise and responsibility. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
+ Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering).
Desired Characteristics
+ Experience in the application of composite materials to Aerospace / Aviation hardware to meet critical design functionality.
+ Experience leading and mentoring less experienced engineers.
+ Exposure to multiple methods of producing composite hardware using aerospace composite materials
+ Understanding of quality processes used to assess and control composite hardware
+ Exposure to and familiarity with aviation regulatory agencies (FAA / EASA) and how to interpret and applying certification requirements to the design of composite hardware
+ Experience in the development and interpretation of finite element analysis models
+ Experience working in a LEAN manufacturing environment and use of data to make informed business decisions
