Department/Program Description:
The Stanford Psychology Department has an opening for a full-time Social Science Research Coordinator (SSRC) at Stanford SPARQ. SPARQ is a behavioral science “do tank” at Stanford University, located in the Department of Psychology. SPARQ builds research-driven partnerships with industry leaders and changemakers to combat bias, reduce disparities, and drive culture change. We work in the areas of criminal justice, economic mobility, education, health, media, and technology. Sample SPARQ projects include: using police body-worn camera footage as big data to quantify the impact of existing law enforcement practices on communities and identifying actionable ways to address disparities; developing and testing the impact of cultural narratives to combat the stigmatization of poverty and inequality; designing and evaluating strategies and tools to fight bias across domains (e.g., tech and social media, entertainment and television, finance and investment). Position Summary:
The Department of Psychology is seeking a Social Science Research Coordinator. The SSRC will work under general supervision of the Dr. MarYam Hamedani and must possess and demonstrate a positive outlook on continuous process improvement efforts while maintaining a team-based and customer-focused mindset. It is critical that this position exhibit the abilities to practice sound judgment and decision-making, effective written & oral communication, strong attention to detail, and respectful relationship management. This position must also exhibit a strong desire to continuously learn new and unfamiliar business topics, policies, and procedures as they relate to Research – the ability to translate this information into operational successes will be critical.
The Research Coordinator/Lab Manager’s responsibilities will include supporting the center’s day-to-day research activities and operations; selecting, training, and mentoring undergraduate research assistants; organizing lab meetings and events; designing and running studies, including creating/managing IRB protocols, programming online studies, coordinating participant recruitment and compensation; managing data storage and cleaning, organizing and preparing data for statistical analysis; preparing research presentations, reports, and papers; reviewing and editing manuscripts; designing resources and workflows to support lab activities and projects; managing SPARQ’s websites and social media accounts; managing SPARQ’s office space, including ordering and maintaining equipment and supplies; and being the first point of contact for lab-related inquiries and questions.
The Research Coordinator/Lab Manager will collaborate with SPARQ staff, faculty, and practitioner partners to support social psychological research that both creates new knowledge and addresses social problems. We are seeking candidates who love to be out in the world just as much as in the lab, are ready to roll up their sleeves to tackle complex social issues, and who thrive working as part of a collaborative team. This position will start in the summer of 2025 and last for one year with the possibility to extend the position for a second-year contingent on strong performance. This position is an excellent fit for recent graduates looking to strengthen their research skills before applying to graduate school or working in a research role in industry, government, or the non-profit world. Applicants should be highly motivated and organized, have excellent interpersonal and communications skills, and have a strong desire to develop their research skills. Applicants should also have an interest in race, culture, inequality, intergroup relations, intervention science, and applied behavioral science.
This is a 100% FTE, 1-year fixed term, non-exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

CORE DUTIES:
+ Prepare correspondence, documents and reports.
+ Maintain and file forms and documents, including consent forms and master subject logs.
+ Assist with the screening, recruiting, and obtaining consent of study participants. Perform telephone or in-person interviews to gather data, as needed. Schedule and/or call subjects for appointments.
+ Prepare, distribute, administer and process questionnaires and tests, score test measurements and questionnaires, and code data for computer entry. Perform quantitative review of forms, tests, and other measurements for completeness and accuracy.
+ Prepare data for input into statistical databases by typing, editing, and organizing data.
+ Apply formulas and calculations to research data using basic statistical programs. Review and verify accuracy of database information and assist in making necessary corrections according to specific guidelines.
+ Order and maintain equipment and supplies.
+ Process study compensation payments and thank you letters to subjects upon completion of trial activities.
+ Assist with post-study activities, as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
• Two-year college degree and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Preferred Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, data science, or other related quantitative social science field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
+ General understanding of scientific theory and methods.
+ General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
+ Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
+ Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
+ Effective oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work with human study participants.
Physical Requirements:
+ Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
+ Occasionally stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, writing by hand, and sort/file paperwork or parts.
+ Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, and operates foot and/or hand controls.

The expected pay range for this position is $29.67 to $35.20per hour.
