Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY
Serves as the main representative of the Emergency Medicine Communication (EMC) group. Performs administrative and leadership functions and serves as the first point of contact between the Hospital Emergency Department, prehospital providers, and outside facilities for both adult and pediatric patients to determine needed resources, optimize throughput,t and maintain patient safety. Serves a vital role in the distribution of information and activation of specific care teams including but not limited to Emergency Medicine, Trauma, Stroke, Pediatrics, etc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Acts as administrative leadership. Addresses QA issues as needed. Leads group initiatives for change or new protocol development. Liaisons with EM leadership as needed and represents EMC group's collective needs.
+ Collects and documents relevant information from prehospital providers, including ground and helicopter agencies, via radio, telephone, and additional digital communications.
+ Collects and documents relevant information from transfer centers, outside facilities, and community-based providers via radio, telephone, and additional digital communications.
+ Utilizes collected information, assesses resource needs, and initiates appropriate activation of specific care teams (Emergnecy Medicine, Trauma, Stroke, Pediatrics, Burn, MI, etc.).
+ Receives and documents clinical information in EMR and receives critical lab values and makes appropriate notification to clinical team members.
+ Follows hospital incident management system protocols in both declared and resource-dependent incidents and manages incoming calls during events Utilizes and maintains Monroe County Disaster Paging system, and assists with maintaining communication systems.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years of Emergency Services, Pre-Hospital or Clinical Emergency Medicine experience required
+ Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Emergency Services, Pre-Hospital or Clinical Emergency Medicine experience preferred
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Knowledge of basic Emergency Medicine clinical and operational protocols required
+ Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills required
+ Ability to manage multiple competing priorities with efficiency and professionalism required
+ Basic competency with computers and additional digital interfaces required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
+ EMT - Emergency Medical Tech EMT-B or higher certification upon hire required or
+ LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - State Licensure LPN or higher nursing licensure upon hire required
