    _The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._

    Responsibilities:

    Oversees and coordinates the flow of specimens throughout the laboratory in CoreLab. Provides technical supervision of section and accountable for the professional conduct and technical performance of personnel within area.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Performs troubleshooting as needed; to include missing samples and follow up on problems. Assumes responsibility for defining priorities during extraordinary situations (i.e. sick calls, safety and security incidents, emergency disaster situations).

     

    Monitors employee performance and department TAT's. Investigates and reports suggestions for corrective action to operations coordinator and supervisors. Discusses and documents promptly any personnel issues with the appropriate supervisor. Participates in evaluating employees.

     

    Holds staff accountable for the accurate and timely completion of assigned activities. Ensures that staff follow laboratory policies and procedures, including safety and security

     

    Completes check lists, preventative maintenance logs, work queues and pending lists daily

     

    Participates in QA initiatives. Collects shift data required for QA monitors. Continuously assesses work processes and makes suggestions to supervisor for improved work methods and ways to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and solve operational problems

     

    Specimen Receiving: Receives pre-accessioned specimens into the LIS from varying sources. Reconciles batch manifests and accounts for all specimens. Identifies specimen requirements and documents discrepancies or unacceptable criteria in the LIS.

     

    Prioritization: Identifies specialized testing requests and prioritizes specimens to meet requested TAT (Turnaround time). Triaging samples received through the chute or drop off window.

     

    Sample delivery: Utilizing judgement and prioritization distributes specimens to appropriate department for prompt analysis.

     

    Specialized Assignments: Works on related specialized assignments within the department. Performs specific studies, performs and documents preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.

     

    Automation maintenance and troubleshooting.

     

    Inventory and lot quality management.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Some college level education with relevant coursework toward a 2-year degree, or certification in a related field, such as medical laboratory assisting or phlebotomy,

     

    Or equivalent combination of education and experience required

     

    1-2 years of related experience in a health care setting, such as but not limited to other lab divisions within UR Medicine such as Client Services, Phlebotomy, Clinical Trials, or similar roles, with closely related technical training and leadership experience required.

     

    Medical Terminology preferred

     

    Ability to identify and resolve problems required.

     

    Ability to pay attention to detail and handle frequent interruptions required.

     

    Works well in a team environment required.

     

    Functions effectively in a rapidly changing environment required.
