    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL PURPOSE

    This position serves the Department of Imaging Sciences as Clerical Coordinator/Navigator for the Incidental Findings Program (Backstop) and/or Lung Screening Program process improvement initiative.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:

    + Under general direction and with considerable latitude for exercise of independent judgment, serves as Clerical Coordinator/Navigator for the Department of Imaging Sciences. This position is responsible for clinical, regulatory and administrative activities related to the coordination of patients that meet the Incidental Findings Program (Backstop) and/or Lung Screening Program criteria for follow-up and surveillance by Imaging Sciences. This individual must effectively communicate with radiologists, referring provider office staff, patients, and department leadership.

    SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:

    + No Supervisory responsibilities.

    TYPICAL DUTIES:

    + Serves as coordinator/navigator for critical communications required between radiologists, our patients’ providers and the patient in order to ensure that required follow-up studies, actions or communications of results are sent and received in accordance with the Incidental Findings Program (Backstop) and/or Lung Screening Program recommendation tracking system.

    + Records all documentation in appropriate chart or system. Follows established criteria and workflow for patient management in the program. Documents all workflows, processes and procedures for use in training co-workers. Keeps those documents up to date with changes, while maintaining previous copies of workflows, processes and procedures.

    + Works closely with Quality Department leadership to establish standard operating procedures, process improvements and QA checks/balances.

    + This position will be required to become fluent and efficient in numerous systems and associated databases, including but not limited to: eRecord, Radiant/Cadence, and RHIO.

    + Serves as subject matter expert for training, process and workflows related to the Incidental Findings Program (Backstop) and/or Lung Screening Program.

    + Other duties as this position will evolve over time as required to accomplish the goals of this initiative.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Basic job-knowledge of systems and procedures obtained through prior work or experience. High school diploma as well as 2-3 years of relevant experience required.

    + Demonstrates excellent communication skills-written, verbal and body language inclusive. Highly focused on details. Exemplary professionalism at all times in handling sensitive and confidential matters. Proactive approach at problem solving. Excellent customer service skills and practice. Exercises independent judgment, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
