    Job Summary

    The Boiler and Machinery (B&M) Engineer/Specialist provides subject matter expertise for Vistra’s generation fleet pertaining to loss control/prevention for critical plant equipment. The position will primarily be responsible for managing Vistra’s B&M program activities and will provide sound engineering judgment to identify program gaps across the fleet consistent with established program guidelines. The Loss Prevention Engineer/Specialist will provide engineering analysis and market- driven options for continuous improvement of hazard management program requirements.

     

    The Engineer/Specialist is involved in industry user groups and forums and brings industry- leading ideas back to the Vistra organization. This function supports short- and long-range budget planning and execution in alignment with B&M program requirements.

    Job Description

    Key Accountabilities:

    + Facilitate the B&M Program adherence across the Fleet.

    + Lead B&M Sub team, conduct periodic team meetings and update B&M Standard as needed.

    + Work with site staff to implement the latest B&M Standard changes.

    + Conduct specific spot audits of B&M program activities for the sites.

    + Support site staff as point of contact for B&M program activities questions or concerns.

    + Execute short-term and long-term B&M performance activities.

    + Maintain the visibility and priority of B&M hazard management program.

    + Participate and/or lead root cause analysis investigations to determine root cause of system and equipment failures and to perform equipment and system performance evaluations.

    + Share actionable and relevant information across the company fleet to build awareness and enable risk-informed decision making.

    + Effectively communicate within all levels of the Vistra organization.

    + Travel to sites as necessary to support efforts.

     

    _**Position may be based at a Vistra generation site.**_

    Education and Skill Requirements:

    + 5+ years of power generation experience (or equivalent), prior experience with equipment reliability concepts, preventive maintenance for power generation plant equipment.

    + Ability to support sites with inquiries related to installation, operation, and maintenance of plant systems, electrical, controls and/or mechanical and rotating equipment.

    + Understanding of power plant equipment and system performance requirements.

    + Ability to research industry standards and best practices to support or provide technical guidance on issues related to hazard management and plant assets loss prevention.

    + Ability to use plant operation, maintenance, and engineering principles to provide technical guidance on issues related to hazard management and plant assets loss prevention.

    + Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, creative problem solving and team building.

    + High level of expertise in MS Office suite.

    + Bachelor of Science in an accredited Engineering program.

    + Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills.

    + Demonstrated aptitude consistent with the job’s key accountabilities.

    • **Key Metrics:**

    + Proactive and technically sound support to the Luminant Fossil and Renewables fleet.

    + Provide technically sound alternatives to improve equipment reliability/performance for management consideration.

    + Effective communication of complex concepts.

    + Provide sound risk analysis and root cause analysis.

    + Develop and maintain program documentation required to support the functions of the Hazard Management Program and Sub-Teams assigned.

    + Tracking and documentation of program implementation at each site to demonstrate compliance with program requirements.

    + Program audits with recommendations to minimize or eliminate hazards and to ensure compliance with program requirements.

    + Track program Key Performance Indicators, PM Compliance, Condition Reports/Action Task completion.
