Job Summary: Responsible for managing the regulatory, compliance, safety, process improvement and quality assurance activities of Blood Bank including Information System IS operations. Responsibilities include working and consulting with Laboratory Director and others as appropriate to plan, implement, and monitor department quality operations, including, regulatory requirements. Responsible for all management and technical aspects of Blood Bank. Performs work on patient specimens and assign workload to subordinates. Provides supervision, direction, technical support, and effective communication to technical staff. Responsible for procedural development and maintenance of department manuals. Reviews annual staff competency. Actively participates in the department’s Quality Assurance / Improvement activities. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) issued by the State of California. Bachelor’s Degree in a Clinical Lab Science, Medical Technology or related science. Five years as a Medical Technologist with three years supervisory or lead experience. At least three years experience in the area of quality assurance, process improvement and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of LIS Systems,including ad hoc reporting and database maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. SBB certification.

Salary range: $142,700 to $165,000. anually.
