    Responsibilities:

    The CNO in collaboration with the Pediatrician in Chief and the Chief Clinical Officer of GCH ensures the integration of various disciplines to align with the hospital system’s strategy to deliver comprehensive and compassionate patient care to pediatric patients. Collaborates with other Senior Leaders within Golisano Children’s Hospital to address the health care needs of children within our community and region.

     

    Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) for University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH), the Chief Nursing Officer of Golisano Children’s Hospital (GCH) provides operational leadership, fosters a culture of excellence and maintains the efficiency and overall performance of GCH nursing departments.

     

    Working with the CNE and other GCH hospital leaders, the CNO drives nursing operational efficiency, and strategic growth across pediatric inpatient and ambulatory settings and assures policies and procedures are evidence based and in compliance with all accepted standards. This leader is responsible for building nursing excellence for GCH to position URMC to deliver leading edge academic medical care in our community and build teams who can successfully deliver on goals related to financial sustainability and growth.

    Key Responsibilities:

    In alignment with the University of Rochester Medical Center strategic plan

    + Is a key contributor in the development and implementation of strategic plans for GCH in order to achieve the hospital's mission, vision, and goals aligned with the Medical Center strategic plan and goals that reflect community needs, achieves organizational goals, and advances the philosophy, mission, and vision of the University.

    + Provides operational leadership to the nursing leadership team of GCH ensuring the achievement of financial and operational plans with a focus on excellence that includes the following:

    + Provides nursing leadership and guidance to hospital teams, fostering a multi-disciplinary approach to collaborative planning, innovation, problem- solving and decision-making. Ability to collaborate and provide effective coaching and development to all teams. Mentors and develops leadership, fostering achievement of goals and objectives, high performing leadership practices, collaboration, innovation, and interdependence. Employs participative management and leadership approaches that optimize organization resources and talent effectiveness and organizational learning.

    + Develops Director of Pediatric Nursing and Assistant Directors to ensure that the management team functions in a manner consistent with the hospital’s values and culture.

    + Recruits, develops, and retains top nursing talent across all levels of GCH. Provides leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering a culture of excellence, professional growth, teamwork, and accountability. Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of employment and operations.

    + Champions change and improvement - seeks out and employs effective change management and performance improvement techniques and tools making sure that accreditation standards, patient safety goals and regulatory requirements are met.

    + Understands, fosters, and contributes value to the development of critical relationships necessary for the effective delivery of health care in alignment with GCH and hospital system goals.

    + On behalf of the SMH CNO and Senior Leadership, participates in associations and groups across the community and at the state level. Establishes and maintains relationships with key community leaders to facilitate the accomplishment of hospital and system goals and objectives.

    + Stays abreast of advancements in pediatric healthcare technology, telemedicine, and digital health solutions. Partners to implement innovative technologies, information systems, and care delivery models to enhance clinical care, operational efficiency, and patient experience across GCH and regional hospitals for pediatric patients.

    + In partnership with the GCH leadership and Nursing Finance Director, contributes to the development of capital and operating budgets and assists in operationalizing the implementation of a long-term, integrated strategic, financial, capital, and operational plan at GCH, assuring appropriate resources for the delivery of services.

    + Monitors progress against these plans, as they pertain to GCH Nursing, ensuring the needed corrective actions are taken timely and raises potential modifications to these plans as needed.

    Required** **Qualifications:

    Registered Nurse licensure in New York State required.

     

    An advanced level of knowledge and eight to ten years of progressively responsible healthcare experience, including experience in a teaching hospital of sufficient size and complexity to be comparable to Strong Memorial Hospital.

     

    Master’s degree in Nursing and/or Healthcare Administration required. Doctoral degree strongly preferred.
