Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Assists with daily administration and functional responsibilities of the program. Works closely with department staff to ensure compliance with regulatory standards from the Joint Commission (TJC), NYSDOH, EPA, OSHA and other local, state and federal agencies, while supporting the applicable policies and procedures of the University. Reports any identified issues, concerns, or workplace incidents and follows through to ensure resolution. Creates, designs, and implements staff safety training programs.

+ MON-FRI 8AM - 4:30PM; OCC WKNDS/HOLS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Acts as a liaison with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and other disciplines. Reports any identified issues or concerns and follows through to ensure resolution. Conducts specialized audits or inspections as required. Ensures recognized best practices are followed.
+ Designs and implements staff safety training programs. Creates and presents new safety trainings as needed. Provides required updates to existing safety trainings. Maintains staff safety training records.
+ Works in conjunction with leadership to manage the cleanliness of facilities for the safety of employees, ensuring all safety codes are being followed and maintained.
+ Supports department in the design and execution of special projects. Assists with risk evaluation, writing of standard operating procedures and implementation. Discusses research plans, investigates risk associated with those plans and remediates per applicable safety standards with departmental leadership.
+ Assists in the facilitation of a department-based employee safety committee to review safety concerns, develop and follow through on appropriate corrective action to ensure a safe working environment. Investigates work place accidents and near misses, identifies root causes and follows through on corrective action plans to mitigate risk. Conducts Job Hazard Assessments (JHA).
+ Maintains most current information and training of regulatory standards.
+ Acts as a liaison to obtain Personal Protective Equipment, (PPE) training and proper use as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
+ Associate's degree in related field and 1 year of experience required
+ Bachelor's degree preferred
+ Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Knowledge of local, state and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, ISO and ANSI required
+ Excellent communication skills required
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
+ DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State upon hire required
+ OSHA certification upon hire preferred
