    _The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._

    Responsibilities:

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    Plans and directs operations to increase the number of transplantable organs and tissues throughout the region. Works with the management team proactively, ensuring internal recruitment, training, and supervision of organ recovery personnel. Manages compliance with internal and external regulations. Acts as a clinical liaison between Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network (FLDRN) and other transplant programs. Initiates and monitors new programs to maximize organ yield. Initiates and directs developmental efforts to increase the number of organ and tissue donations. Initiates and executes an action plan to recover tissues for transplantation. Assists in strategic planning initiatives. Provides input into policy development and other departmental decisions.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    + Establishes goals, objectives, and work plans necessary to maximize clinical outcomes. Maintains and monitors the effectiveness of the donation process.

    + Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships with other programs to achieve and maintain efficient operations. Works collaboratively with tissue/eye banks to maximize donation and service to the community. Develops strategic plans to increase organ donation for area hospitals.

    + Provides guidance and oversight to the hospital development program. Develops, implements, and evaluates hospital relations that support the strategic plan.

    + Ensures all clinical activities are in accordance with established standards, department policies and procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements. Updates policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as needed.

    + Oversees hiring, training, and supervision of clinical staff. Ensures staff competency in all areas of organ recovery, including donor identification, obtaining consent, donor management, organ placement, and organ recovery and preservation. Works with managers to improve staff recruitment/retention.

    + Works with quality assurance to collect and analyze data necessary to monitor and improve systems and processes.

    + Assists in developing and evaluating new technology to advance the science of organ recovery and transplantation.

    + Presents professional and public education topics as needed. Facilitates the coordinator’s professional development.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    + Bachelor's degree in nursing field or related and 5 years of critical care or organ procurement experience required

    + Master's degree preferred

    + Or equivalent combination of education and experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    + Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required

    + Ability to read, analyze and interpret common industry-related journals, financial reports, and legal documents required

    + Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints from clients, regulatory agencies or members of the business community required

    + Ability to effectively write reports and articles that conform to appropriate style and format required

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

    + ABTC Certification upon hire required
